The Super Huey part suggests a major re-design. Maybe that’s why my guys say there are no parts for UH-1’s? Nothing fits? I always thot the basic air frame of the Huey was about right for the mission so it would be efficient to build off of it. I remember some of my guys being happy when they figgered out they could bolt an M-60 mount in the doorway-—and cover a whole lot of the “hood.”

I hope there is enough left of this one to tell what the problem was?

“The Super Huey part suggests a major re-design”

Over the years, the Huey became so heavy it was underpowered.

“The Y-model upgrades pilot avionics to a glass cockpit, adds further safety modifications and provides the UH-1 with a modern FLIR system. However, the biggest improvement is an increase in engine power. By replacing the engines and the two bladed rotor system with four composite blades the Y-model will return the Huey to the utility role for which it was designed.”

My era was F models ..... this Y variant is bad ass......

“Compared to the UH-1N, the Y-model has an almost 125% increased payload, almost 50% greater range, a reduction in vibration, and higher cruise speed...”
