Investor's Business Daily ^ | 05/13/2015 | Staff

President Obama talked this week about poverty, a subject he should know a lot about, since he's done such a good job of expanding it. Instead, he offered only fact-challenged and badly misguided ideas.

Only because it was rich people like you who lowered the trade tariffs and let cheap imports destroy American manufacturing.

Obama's worthless prattle is all for his radical leftist base. He knows most of them want to believe poor people create wealth. In fact, go to a number of leftist websites....they really believe that hokum. Many of will state outright that the rich "stole" their wealth from the poor.

Yes, the rich just all fell into their dough....their rich parents gave it to them. Or somebody they knew just handed them a wad of dough. Or somehow they "stole" their money from the poor. Nobody worked hard for their money and invested wisely. That's the leftist view.

The problem liberals have with rich people is they have stuff the liberals want, but don’t want to go through the drudgery of earning it.

And once they have that stuff, they’ll want your stuff too.

Who knows. Maybe Obama actually believes it. Seems like a stretch when everyone he knows and everyone he hangs out with is Ruling Class and his daughters go to an elite private school.

If he would get out of the echo chamber and come to my neighborhood, he would experience a completely different world than the one he thinks exists.

Ironic to hear Obama talk about the poor being as how his policies have created so many more of them.

"actually believes it"

I think he's an ignoramus about economics. But I don't think he's quite that stupid. He doesn't like the rich (at least the business world rich), but he and his wife sure like being rich themselves.

I think as the dough rolls in King Barack very much likes the good life. He speaks nonsense to his base to keep the hero worship going. He probably thinks taxing the wealthy more will help his base, but I doubt he's the leftist idiot he was before he got into politics. Even though he has no clue as to how it works, I don't think he wants to shut down the U.S. economic engine.

Any person with normal intelligence should plainly see that while hard work and wise investment don't necessarily guarantee wealth, you've got a lot better chance for wealth than sitting on your a.. and waiting for manna from heaven i.e. a government check.

Is that why he is siding with the Republicans in favor of the Trans Pacific Partnership, while his own party voted against it in the Senate? Also is there any truth to Elizabeth Warren’s statement that she was not even allowed to take notes on the provisions and take them out of the meeting? What is being hidden here and who will it hurt?

I think there are a lot of lefties who figured pandering to the masses would get them elected to public office and beyond. Maybe they really believed the Marxist garbage at one point. I get on a number of different forums, and many of the posters, who seem fairly young, will go on an anti-capitalist rant.

I think as they get older though, it gradually dawns on many of them that the Marxist lies they were told in college was all balderdash. Certainly, many lib pols, like Obama, love to make money and live the Hollywood life.

But to keep getting elected and have the praise and hero worship they've become accustomed to, they can't suddenly tell their worshippers that it was all a con.

I don't know. Obama might still believe a lot of the Marxist crap. But I bet it even dawns on him Marxism and class envy/warfare is a huge con put on the ignorati i.e. his voters.
