Putin's new tank breaks down during Victory Day parade rehearsal

Seventy years ago, Soviet tanks made it all the way to Berlin, but this week one of the newest Russian tanks struggled to make it all the way across Red Square.

The next-generation tank appeared to stall during the final rehearsal for a major military parade in Moscow to mark the 70th anniversary of victory in the second world war.

The Armata tank, which is on display for the first time, ground to a halt during the rehearsal, in an incident later claimed to have been a deliberate test.

President Vladimir Putin will welcome the leaders of India, China and many other countries to Moscow for the parade tomorrow, although few western leaders will attend, and defence ministry officials will be scrambling to ensure there is no repeat of the incident.

The Armata is highly computerised, and there have even been suggestions it could form the basis for a fully automated robot tank in future.

It is the first major tank to be developed in Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union, and is based on a fundamentally new design rather than just an update of older models.

There are plans to build more than 2,000 of them, although this figure may come down due to the high costs and recent economic downturn.

The tank, which will eventually be called the T-14, has not yet been delivered to the army and is still undergoing factory tests.

During earlier parade rehearsals, the tanks were kept partially covered in fabric to avoid revealing their design.

The tank that ground to a halt in Red Square later started moving of its own accord after an unsuccessful attempt to tow it away.

It was later announced over a loudspeaker that the tank’s stop had been planned in

Highly automated, eh? It’s not that easy to protect from EMP and you don’t need nukes to produce one on the battlefield.

Thirty years later they’re producing a tank that is (supposedly) as capable as the M1 Abrahms. They’ll likely field it in sufficient numbers just in time for us to develop and deploy a mobile rail gun platform.

Amusing in some respects, yes.

But many forget the issues with the M1 early on

If so, not for long. Once a conservative takes the helm in this country, military spending will increase.

Too many threats around the world.

Well I guess none of us knows what will happen for sure over the next 18 months or so, but I'd say with reasonable certainty that if the momentum continues around the globe, particularly in the U.S., governments appear to be drifting to the right....would you not agree?

Take two elections ago in this country. Republicans captured the House. This past election, Republicans captured the Senate and increased their majority in the House. Also, took the majority of state houses/governorships.

Israel / UK, despite liberal media polls to the contrary, won landslide moderate to conservative victories over the left.

Now, if history repeats itself here in the U.S. with regards to presidential elections, we will realize a republican in the White House...not sure if that person will be a conservative, but hey.

Liberal policies / candidates are in trouble. Hillary is dragging the democrats into the gutter...and they know it. The country has moved right since the super duper secret negotiations / passage of Obozo-care. Folks in the country are pretty fed-up. with revelations NSA spying, IRS targeting, Anti-Christian, Anti-American, cuts to the military, illegal immigration, fast & furious, Bengahzi, shutting down WWII monument to piss off conservatives, Clinton foundation, war on 2nd, 1st, 5th, 10th amendments of the constitution, war on traditional marriage...and on and on and on.

Based off of these....I believe we will have a republican president. You asked.
