Sadly, Kareem is right. Our major cities where minorities outnumber whites are tinder boxes. No jobs, lousy schools, single parent households, high dependence on government handouts, drugs, and crime are endemic. These cities are becoming cesspools ala Detroit. The anger and frustration of a permanent and growing underclass will lead to riots and civil unrest. In fact, it has been going on for some time with the flash mobs and knockout games. The liberals are in charge and responsible for the decay of our cities. Baltimore is just the canary in the coal mine.

Half the black politicians belonged to one of the various black political machines, a few honest, most out for themselves and crooked as hell (i.e. the Mitchells).
Baltimore once had a rising black middle class. A teacher and his professional business wife bought our house in Ashburton in the mid-60’s. The black middle class had arrived in suburbia but the black criminal class wasn’t too far behind heading up from North Avenue to Hilton and Liberty Heights, and then north on Liberty to the county line.
The old white plantation and slavemasters was eventually replaced by a combined white/black set of Democrat Party masters who kept the black masses down on the welfare plantation (You vote for me and I’ll get you more welfare, food stamps, money, and false promises about rising out of our imposed misery).

I have a couple of observations looking back over the past week and a half. The city officials in and citizens of Baltimore came off looking bad. Real bad. Almost like petulant children. Especially the mayor and State's Attorney. The President as usual came off looking like a major league race pimp. A higher class of Jesse and Al, the Just-us Brothers. The only two public officials at this point who have looked and acted like grownups in this situation have been the Maryland Governor and the new Attorney General. At this stage of the game, I am very surprised, pleasantly surprised at Ms Lynch.

A thousand times as many unarmed blacks have been killed by black criminals during that same period. Ironically, these protests Mr. Abdul-Jabbar is defending will likely result in less diligent policing and thus cause the deaths of far, far more unarmed blacks.
