State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby said Friday she has probable cause to file criminal charges in the much publicized death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray who died while in police custody.

Six officers, including a lieutenant and a sergeant, have been suspended after the incident. Gray suffered a spinal injury and died after riding in a police transport van that made several stops.

On Thursday, Baltimore’s police officials said they turned over their initial report to prosecutors — a day earlier than expected.

And this means every Baltimore police officer's life is now in more danger than ever.

"But it is not known how the injuries, which overall are consistent with what medical examiners often see in car collisions, happened. "

My question therefore, is how can they rule this as a homicide?

I thought her speech was very good. She said her family was generations in law enforcement.

I agree with the union’s call for an independent prosecutor.

This one is practically chanting “No Justice, No peace” which is a clear signal that she has no intent of seeking justice.

The clear signal here is: Rioting and looting works.

I am listening to her and am impressed. It won’t be an easy job. I wish her the best.

Yes! Her whole demeanor screamed “EFF YOU POPO!”

Do prosecutors usually use a nice demeanor to talk about people they are charging with murder?

The clear signal here is: Rioting and looting works if you are going to unlawfully arrest someone, make sure they don't end up dead in the back of the police van.

Fixed that for ya.

Yes the attitude of that lady reeked unfairness. The cops may be guilty of something, but you won’t get to the truth with people like her in charge. That city is ready to lynch the cops in an effort to halt the mobs. I doubt justice has a chance.

"Police brutality is completely inexcusable. I'm going to apply justice fairly, even to those who wear a badge," said Marilyn Mosby, Baltimore state's attorney. (Cassidy Johnson, Baltimore Sun)

How many of the looters and burners of property will she prosecute? How about the mayor who told cops to not defend the city? Will Mosby prosecute her?

Bueller? Bueller?

No, but they make every attempt to sound professional and at least as though they haven’t already convicted the person.

I hate the Sharpton crowd et al, and I hope they get their comeuppance on this, but she's right. I've reviewed the fact that have come out and BASED ONLY ON THOSE there is cause for an indictment.

1. Freddie Grey broke his back in the police van.

2. Plenty of prisoners thrash around in police vehicle, it's very, very rare that they do it fatality.

3. It would take a lot of force to fracture 3 vertebrae, and a collision at a decent speed.

4. Confined in a 6 to 80 foot area, it would be difficult for a handcuffed man to obtain the velocity to fracture 3 vertebrae in a collision with a hard object.

5. It would NOT be unusual if subject to a sudden stop or jolt at 25-30 miles per hour.

6. Police will sometimes give “extra service” to unruly prisoners in the back of a police van - that includes sudden starts and stops, driving over curbs, etc. Just ask your urban police friends, it happens from time to time.

7. The driver of the van made an “unscheduled stop”

8. The driver of the van has refused to make a statement.

There is not enough evidence here to result in a conviction “beyond a reasonable doubt” certainly, but there is enough for an indictment.

Impressed with what? She has the cops convicted already. To deny that is to be tone deaf.

I really wish there was more info on this, which understandably will not come until much much later. I’m really not sure how to feel about this. The kid was clearly a drug dealer with well over a dozen arrests. I would assume that was all the probable cause the officers needed. Just seems strange to me that a kid can die of a broken back while riding in a police van. I just hope this is a fair investigation and not some means of calming the locals. This kid may not have deserved to die but he certainly wasn’t a good person. Good, honest, innocent people are hurt every single day, who don’t get any media attention at all. Why do these thugs warrant any of this attention. I just wish these people could open their eyes and see reason.
