NEW PORT RICHEY Pasco County sheriff's Deputy Kerry Kempink left his patrol car outside the gate at a home on Bellamy Bros. Boulevard in Darby last Friday afternoon and climbed the fence.
Kempink walked the quarter-mile up the driveway toward the house, where an alarm company had alerted the Sheriff's Office of a possible intrusion through the back door. But before Kempink could case the house, he was charged at by two 80-pound Rottweilers. Feeling threatened, Kempink unholstered his gun and shot one of the dogs, named Cowboy, when it got too close.
The entire incident was captured on Kempink's body-worn camera.
Sheriff Chris Nocco defended Kempink, a military veteran, at a news conference Thursday.
"He did what he did to protect himself," the sheriff said. "I don't think an Olympic runner could have outrun those dogs."
After Kempink shot the dog, Carla Gloger, the homeowner, is seen in the video running out of the house. She ordered Kempink to "shoot (the injured dog) all the way."
The Rottweiler was standing upright, but limping. The deputy complied with Gloger's request and killed Cowboy.

I wonder why?
Florida sheriffs are known to psychopaths. Pasco County has a long history with the occult. It’s your basic perfect storm of white trash.
Good reason not to have your alarm connected to the police if you have guard dogs. Very sad situation.
I used to do unannounced home visits and not once was I ever chased by an angry dog.
A home alarm system provides the police passive authorization to investigate, like calling 911 and hanging up.
I worked for over a year as an unarmed courier and encountered menacing dogs a few times. Although sometimes barking furiously (not a bad thing) and occasionally snarling and baring their teeth (not a good thing),they never charged me and I stood my ground until an owner appeared to restrain them.
Maybe your heels weren’t high enough or your skirt wasn’t short enough. It’s the legs that calms the beast.
The UPS man leaves the neighbor’s packages here because he’s afraid of their mini psycho. He (the dog, not the UPS man) won’t even accept treats from hubby to hush up. I just give him a bored disgusted don’t have time for your drama look until he shuts up snarling and foaming at the mouth yapping.
