To summarize from a previous post by GraceG:
1. Elect More Republicans - Failed due to RINO/Uni-party confluence.
2. Article V Convention of States to propose Amendments - Needed to try to take power from the federal government back to the states and reel in the federal leviathan.
3. State Nullification - Last ditch effort to try to take power back from the federal monster, though by this point it may be too late.
4. State Secession - Could either end up peaceably like the breakup of the Czechoslovakia in 1993 or a brutal:
5. Civil War II like the first one.... The longer we wait on #2, the more likely #3, then #4 and finally #5. .
So, do we do nothing and just wait for # 5?
Quick review: We need 34 states to pass an application, then Congress shall, by law, call a Convention of States as soon as it receives applications from 2/3 of the State Legislatures. That's 34 states. We now have 30 working on it. Amendments are proposed and voted on at the convention. Each Amendment must be ratified by ¾ of the states in order to become part of the US Constitution. Thats 38 states.
There are far more political and legal constraints on a runaway convention than on a runaway Congress. - Robert Natelson
Most FReepers are aware of these links, but I post anyway for review and for people new to Article V. It is our responsibility to make Article V the most understood aspect of the US Constitution.

Well, I would say that we need to begin enforcing what laws we have now. That would be a great first start. We have lots of laws on the books now, many of which directly apply to the power grab by FedGov, but we are ignoring them, and are more excited about passing more laws.
The main reason conservatives are asking for a convention of the states, whatever claims they make to the contrary, is that they believe that since right now a majority of states are right-leaning Republican we can get what we want through the states more easily than the RINO-led congress.
The same thinking was behind the Republican support of imperial presidents, i.e. we didn't have the votes in congress but we had the Whitehouse, so give more power to the Whitehouse.
An Article V convention might just work. It may be the case that regardless of what amendments get passed in the convention, only conservative ones will get the OK of 3/4ths of the states.
But then just as Obama took on the imperial powers granted to him by a prior Republican administration, some future Article V convention in a US where the majority of state legislatures are run by Democrats will be able to overturn what any previous Article V convention had accomplished and turn this country more forcefully toward socialism.
Still it's worth the gamble, the excitement, and the educational opportunities it would afford.
Let's all take the red pill for once!
