This is Great! Now we just need to ATTACH ALL ASSETS of Every Public Servant and Former Public Servant to PAY for it all.

And it will be very effective.
Warren’s Groupons for student loan forgiveness will lock in (and stimulate turnout) of the under 30 demographic.

Don’t know. http://www.berea.edu/

These people make the best brooms and whisk brooms on the face of the earth.

The place helps students from disadvantaged families go to college. They work all the while they’re there.

Please note that Berea college is unapologetically Christian.

Maybe they CAN roll tuition costs back 30 years if Fauxcohantos can convince her former colleagues to accept professorial pay scale of 30 years ago. That might work.

I remember in the mid-70s a relative completed her Ph.D. and was hired at a major university at the grand salary of $12K/year. That’s roughly what a GS7 in the govt was making at the time.

Debt Free College. What a sad joke. A huge new entitlement that will put these kids’ kids further into debt.

when students graduate with debt, it has negative effects on the economy.

Of course, when students graduate with an absolutely worthless degree, it has no negative effects on the economy.

Big Education is a major funding source for Democrats.

Univ of California employees #1 in funding for Obama campaign, Goldman Sachs #2.

Don’t look for anything that penalizes profs and admins who donate bigtime to Dems.

Who undertook that debt? Nothing is ever free. Sooner or later the bills come due, here or in the hereafter.

End in state tuition for illegal immigrants, even if brought here as babies.
Apply admission standards. It is abominable to see someone spending two years taking remedial courses while racking up unbankruptable debt learning what they should have learned in high school but lack the ability to learn.
End diversity and inclusion projects. No more racial quotas, no more women’s studies or black students department. This just leads to overpaid administrators and assistants to criticizes how things are done.
Cut out the Title 1-10 funding, which includes mandates for as many women’s sports no matter how unwatched as men’s sports.
No more race based scholarships except from private sources. The costs for whites and Asians go up to subsidize minorities. Everyone pays the same price to enter, barring a few need based cases.
Cut back on the facilities. Either have cheap 2 kids in a minimal dorm room or let people rent private apartments off campus. Don’t use tuition funds to build massive apartments where each student gets a private bedroom and bathroom and shared living area and kitchen with two and three other people. It drives up the cost of tuition for all, sucks up boarding funds that could be better used by the private sector and gets kids used to a higher standard of living than what many could afford on their own.
Cut back on international student admissions, and no more scholarships, work studies and other benefits for international students. I blew up at an alumni meeting where they said decided to give work-study positions and the subsequent tuition discounts to international students. In short, Americans had to pay higher tuition to give the international students the discounts, and then Americans were displaced for work study positions that could have led to jobs after graduation.
Apply lean management principles to administration. Cut it back to 1975 ratios. In 1975, colleges employed one administrator for every 84 students and one professional staffer—admissions officers and the like—for every fifty students. By 2005, the administrator-to-student ratio had dropped to one administrator for every 68 students while the ratio of professional staffers had dropped to one for every 21 students.

So does that mean I can go to Yale for free? No, I want to go to MIT for free, then UConn law for free, then maybe Chicago for free...

The cheapest solution is obvious - just give everyone a degree of their choice without all that expensive class-taking nonsense. They won’t remember anything they learned in class 5 years later anyway, so what’s the point?

“In a statement, they noted that the cost of college has increased by 300 percent over the last 30 years”

Simple solution:

New Law:
No University Employee(or Contract Employee) at a taxpayer-supported, or publicly-funded (through any means, including Federal Student Loans) Institution of Higher Learning, may make over $100,000 dollars a year, in salary and benefits.

Libs are always complaining about “Income inequality”, aren’t they? Make them walk the walk.

The fastest way to lower college costs is to drastically cut the number of college administrators and to drastically cut the salaries of faculty. Yes, I am all for reduced or free tuition.

Yes, I am all for reduced or free tuition. Seriously? May I ask who you suggest should pay for free tuition?

Exactly - California came up with its "master plan" in '60 to offer to pay college costs for all residents. They wanted to get more folks to move into the State. We can see the results of how that worked by the condition of Kalifornia today.

If the Feds offer "free" college, it will be an exercise in reaching the maximum numbers of "citizens" to brainwash and pervert them in order to destroy FREEDOM.

If we could do any of those things, the Nation wouldn’t be insane. Alas, if it were only so.

I would suggest that the taxpayers would get a bargain if we traded the costs of on-line education for all those left wing brain washing professors.

We cut their financial throats *AND* kids get a much more inexpensive degree. I say we come out cheaper.
