WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) today issued the following statement condemning the espionage charges filed by the Iranian regime against The Washington Post reporter, Jason Rezaian:
It appears that Mr. Rezaian is being persecuted because of his profession as a reporter and his American citizenship. Freedom of press is a right that should be guaranteed to all individuals regardless of their nationality. We urge the Iranian government to immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Rezaian.
This case is just the latest example of the true nature of the Iranian regime. The Obama Administration should demand Mr. Rezaians immediate release along with all other Americans wrongfully imprisoned in Iran prior to concluding a nuclear deal with this brutal regime.
In March 2015, Kirk and Rubio led a group of 19 senators in urging the Obama Administration to demand the unconditional release of Rezaian and other American citizens unjustly imprisoned in Iran.
We have 100 senators, right?
President Palin wouldn’t allow this to stand.
To bad we don’t have any leverage (like sanctions they want removed) to convince them to release all these political prisoners.

Well, it’s pretty obvious that Obama heard them...right?
Right?
Silly question but why would anyone trust for their life and limb to be worth a position in Iran?
For money? For the joy of teaching? Nothing to lose your head or liberty over.. IMHO..
Ping me when Rubio takes a stand on something difficult. As a member of the SFRC who unanimously gave Iran Nukes (effectively), Rubio’s toothless condemnation might just be posturing.

You mean the reporter wasn’t working for Iran?
