The AMA, the APA and most likewise institutions have all been infiltrated by homosexual activists. Of course they will find “evidence” that this therapy is harmful, and of course, homosexual activity is just normal and has no ill effects.

I don’t get it. Why would they ban therapy? Maybe because if it works, it will put in question the whole gay agenda and we can’t have that.

The liberals are anti-science. This is just another piece of evidence.

CT is bad, but minors having abortions is A-OK.

So, if you want to change your gender identity from straight to queer, or even queerer, you can get taxpayer funding to do it.

But if you want to change from gay to straight, you’re out of luck! It’s illegal!

I do not need to read the article to know it will ignore all evidence contrary to the opinion of the writer.

Seems the most they can do is hedge.

And if I had one guess, the way they can hedge is that they toss every approach ever proposed, however fishy, into one hopper... and oh yes, they don’t count pure theological approaches which fall under the category of clerical counseling.

Can Gays Turn Straight? What the Evidence Says About “Ex-Gay” Therapy.

Yes, that means it's a disorder, just as it always has been.

Seek help and stop screwing up society.

But the sodomites get to put the thought into the minds of impressionable children that they too, might be sodomites—in school, on the taxpayer dime.

Gays might need therapy, but this might be the wrong type of therapy. It makes gayness the focus, in fact obsession. A rabbi I know said that the main problem with gays is their identification with their behavior. Maybe they need something more indirect, which would draw them away from it. There is no magic bullet, though.

I’ve heard of some gays changing over the years . . . either improved relationships and life experiences, overcoming early trauma & abuse (prevalent among many of them). So I don’t believe it is a fixed thing. More likely a pathology. Something else is going on.

Encouraging someone’s self delusion that they can change their gender by permanent genital self-mutilation?

Perfectly legal and encouraged.

Counseling someone on how they can control unwanted same-sex attractions?

Illegal and evil.

So, are they introducing bills to prevent treatment of other mental disorders? How doea the APA feel about being put out of business?

Well, if straights can turn homosexual it stands to reason homosexuals can turn straight. People are free to choose.

What a complete waste of time that was.

Spin, spin, spin, spin,...

Then the writer states, now lets look at the evidence. Three paragraphs later, lots more trashing of the therapy done, he spins into reports that sound more like fantasy than the claims of success were.

I have heard testimonies of people who said they were helped by this. Were they all lying?

I don’t honestly know what to make of the effort, but I do have a pretty good idea this article was not an objective review. It was pure propaganda.

If there is enlightenment on a subject, you don’t have to trash those who disagree with you before revealing the results.

You just reveal the results.

This article sought to create hatred for those who oppose homosexuality. Then it gave a flimsy review of ‘conversion thereapy’ success. Of course there isn’t any success if you believe this nut-job.

I don’t.

Most child molesters released from prison also re-offend. Just because the mental illness cannot be permanently cured doesn’t make it acceptable behavior. Smoking cessation also has a dismal success rate, but that isn’t a good reason to allow legislators to ban the attempts for those who wish to intervene and help their children.

Why stop there. What about all the other ‘born that way’ issues? Plenty believe criminal behavior is hereditary too.

If the 17th Amendment had never been ratified then the Senate could probably be expected to protect the states by killing such a bill if the House actually introduced it.

The 17th Amendment needs to disappear.
