Not true,
Chicago makes it illegal to carry firearms. only ones then that do are criminals as they don’t give a damn about the law anyway. Thus unarmed good citizens become victims for want of a way to defend or fight back.
Texas is saying don’t mess with a Texan or he might just shoot your head off for doing such.
Be honest.

To all that were puzzled by this, for years, the vast majority of the state has wanted open carry, but it was stymied in the house by its speaker, Joe Straus, an utter swine.

Nominally a Republican, he is actually a leftist Democrat, who has been repeated made speaker by a small cabal of liberal Republicans that support him, and the unanimous vote of the Democrats, for a simple majority.

He has refused to let gun liberty laws come to a vote in the house, along with all pro-life laws. Straus’ team has been working to implement in Texas the rules Lois Lerner and Barack Obama’s IRS tried to impose nationally. His senior advisors have referred to Tea Party activists as “idiots.”

As House Speaker, Joe Straus has thwarted conservative reforms. Zero-based budgeting and strict constitutional spending limits are wildly popular among Texans, yet Joe Straus and his team have refused to allow even House debate on the issues.

Liberal Dallas State Rep. Jason Villalba (R-Lib), an ardent Straus supporter, said that Straus will make sure that conservative initiatives “die.”

Straus allowed passage of an amendment specifically banning funding for any school choice program in the state appropriations bill.

Much more:

Texas is poised to become the largest state in the U.S. to allow citizens to openly carry handguns

Doesn't Alaska have open carry?

It is close, but not done yet. I will be much happier when it is signed into law.

When it is signed into law, it will have been the open carry demonstrations that did it.

I have had people comment on articles, saying that they open carried in Massachusetts regularly.

I suspect that it depends much on the local circumstances.

Doesn't Alaska have open carry?

From OpenCarry.org

Alaska is one of our “Gold Star” open carry states. There is complete state preemption for the carrying of firearms concealed or openly. Open carry is fairly common and law enforcement is accustomed to it.
In terms of population, Texas will become the largest state to allow citizens with a CHL to openly carry handguns.

Yes, Alaska has open carry. It is a constitutional carry state, of which we now have seven by my count.

When Texas passes this bill, we will have more constitutional carry states than states that ban open carry.

Here is a brief history of how the Texas Constitutional protections on carry were subverted after the war.

Should go the route of Kansas, no license required.

Yes, the Democrat ‘tail’ is still ‘wagging’ the GOP dog.
