"I wish we had someone to vote for who was NOT in the GOP."

Dr. Ben Carson has not been an active political person during his career, and many of our retired Generals were by law not active politicians during their active duty years. I really consider Carson's education far superior to that of most lawyers/politicians/community agitators, but I'm still for Cruz at this point.

Hillary Huddles Privately With Reporters Ahead of Campaign Launch

"Podesta, the campaign chairman and a seasoned cook, made a pasta with walnut sauce for the dinner guests, which included reporters from The New York Times, The Washington Post, Politico, The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press and several major TV networks.

Well, if nothing else, I’d be interested to see the ‘swim suit’ competition on this one. :)

I suppose the media is calling the group “shadowy” and “secretive” because they’re not allowing the liberal media to pick the sacrificial goat.

I have to admit the idea is sound. The establishment gets their crap candidate by dividing and conquering the conservatives. I wish there was a primary prior to the primary to choose one conservative to throw into the GOP primary.
After reading the entire article, I'm more comfortable with the described process. The article's title and beginning text use some ominous-sounding language that really don't properly characterize the objective of the meetings. It's not as good as a primary prior to the primary, but I think they have the same objective in mind.

The next two paragraphs from the article better explain what the group hopes to accomplish, which essentially is to have an effective strategy to prevent the GOPe and RNC insiders and their major donors from picking our nominee.

This sequence of events will be the manifestation of a year's worth of private meetings around the country, as first detailed by National Journal last October, in which leaders from the faith and tea-party communities have agreed on the importance of rallying their followers behind a single conservative candidate who might stand a chance of defeating the "establishment" favorite in the GOP primary.

"The reason extraordinary steps are being taken, is that the calendar has been shrunk. The RNC for political as well as financial reasons has tightened the schedule," said one of CNP's organizers, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the group's strict off-the-record rules. "As a consequence, there is a suspicion that [the primary] is going to be decided much earlier. So the reason for this open forum is, we want to see if there are any early signs of folks who won't be able to keep pace with the stronger dogs in the race."

“I wonder who Bohemian Grove and the Bilderbergs have chosen?”

Hillary, with Bush as the sacrificial lamb who will generate the most revenue for the group.

- inviting a large number of non-members to both.

- five months later, CNP will reconvene – in the same city, at the same hotel –

Not too secretive if others know about it.

"If conservative leaders could pick the Rebuplican presidential candidate we never would have gotten stuck with McCain or Romney."

I think it's just the opposite. It's because conservatives could NOT coalesce around a single candidate, the default became Romney and McCain. There were far too many "It's my way or the highway" conservative voters who stood idly by when their "perfect" conservative candidate stalled. You will see this attitude in a large percentage of the threads on this, and many other posts. This "Principled" stand is what gave us two terms of Obama.

While I certainly agree with this with regard to the Republican primaries I depart with regard to the general election. If Boehner and McCain have taught us anything a RINO Republican is no better than a Dem. They are just two sides of the same coin.

"a RINO Republican is no better than a Dem. They are just two sides of the same coin."

That statement is simply oblivious to the facts. Do you really believe that McCain or Romney would:

Grant nukes to Iran?
Remove a missile defense system from Poland?
Give arms to Mexican Cartels?
Free a Black Panther convicted of intimidating voters with a baseball bat?
Dance away from every Red Line they ever drew?
Sic the IRS on the Tea Party?
Give away a trillion dollar "stimulus" to unions?
Etc
?
Etc
?
Etc
?
Etc

If the polls supported it I wouldn’t trust McCain or Romney not to do these things except MCain wouldn’t remove missle defense from Poland because he’s bought and paid for by the military arms industry.
