Washington (CNN)Ben Carson will make a major announcement on May 4 in Detroit, his campaign tells CNN, setting the date and location for what's expected to be the launch of his presidential bid.
The announcement will take place at the Detroit Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, and will be ticketed, but the rest of the details — the exact time, and how many tickets Carson will distribute to supporters — have yet to be hammered out, a spokeswoman said.

I like Ben Carson but his speaking style doesn’t seem strong or persuasive in my opinion. Wonder how he will connect with voters especially undecided to vote for him.
I know some are against it, but it is exciting to me to see so many want to make the United States a better place for all Americans. Good for him. He may be just getting his name out there more and what better way to do that then running for President. I wish anyone who wants to participate in that grind to do so.
Ben, why bother.
Forget it Carson
I hope his announcement is that he is NOT running for the nomination and is, instead, supporting Ted Cruz for President. But his ego (and his ‘supporters” who want him in to siphon off some conservative votes) may not allow him to do that.
We don’t need these fake candidates around.
On guns and Ebola he was totally wrong.
Here’s a guy who has exactly zero chance of being elected President of the United States sucking the air out of conservative campaigns.

I’m all for these various ego-trip characters running as long as they are GOPe RINOs. But that won’t happen because they are strongly discouraged from running by the GOPe who don’t want them siphoning votes from the GOPe designee.
I like Ben, but please don’t!
That is the one unfortunate part of it. But I figure if you are strong enough conservative, it shouldn’t matter how many other conservatives are in the race. You should be able to convince voters that you are the one to lead our country the next four years. Plus we have a quite a few RINOs running or potentially running.....Jeb, Perry, Trump, Paul, Carley so that should be enough to keep Jeb from getting the brass ring. We only have Cruz, Walker, Jindal, and maybe Rubio as the conservative side so it looks heavier on the RINO side this round.
I’m sad at his missteps. Running for president isn’t rocket surgery, just look at Hillary Climinal.
The endgame for all these candidates like Marco Rubio who called Jeb Bush ‘my friend’ on television today should be pretty obvious to those who’ve watched the last two primary election cycles.
I have a ton of respect for Dr. Carson, but TPTB aren’t going to allow him to be president, and really, he should save himself the money and energy trying.
And while I respect the good doctor, I don’t care for his politics.
So Ben, this means you really support Jeb Bush and are hoping for a high level appointment in his administration?
