I agree. It always puzzles me why the conventional thinkers say the shutdown did not work out well for Republicans, especially after seeing the 2014 election results. Sure, it made the GOP-E turds such as Boner and McConnell pee their panties, but I think it worked out great for Republicans in the end. I just don’t get the fixation on the 12% government shutdown.

I don’t think this intent was to bury Sen. Cruz, but to praise him. If one goes back to the article and underlines all the positive characterizations,as against the negative ones— I think the article is overwhelmingly positive.

I think that many talking heads are still misunderestimating Cruz. Many still don’t get it, but they will soon enough.

My point is, it’s a Rino quote. Yes, the article was very much in favor of Ted Cruz. But he’s the man of the hour right now and that draws praise on it’s own right .... until it doesn’t.

Lets see what friends stick with him during the trying times.

Ted Cruz’s role in the government shutdown and other high-stakes fights that didn’t turn out so well for Republicans is a strength, not a weakness

Why didn't the gummint shutdown in October of 2013 turn out well? They say the voters hated the pubbies because Cruz shut down the gummint for a few days, yet the pubbies swept the 2014 elections, which was the first time that the voters TRUE voices could be heard.

The msm is full of bullship.

Sorry Vin, but to me the slurs are glaring.

As others have mentioned, he uses the MSM/GOPe meme that ““Ted Cruz’s role in the government shutdown and other high-stakes fights that DIDN’T TURN OUT SO WELL FOR REPUBLICANS...” That is a bold faced lie. It turned out extremely well and the ‘14 elections are proof of it. Why did he bring that lie up if he is so supportive of Cruz?

Yes, he says Cruz will be around for a long time, then he slams him with the ego card at the end.

“Ted Cruz left the stage to whistles and a standing ovation. He may win the nomination or fall short, but it’s certain that the Texas senator is going to relish his big role in the spotlight for a long time.”

Yes, I like the positives listed because they are so true of Ted Cruz. It’s just that he rips Ted Cruz to shreds with his little additions and inuendos.

Nat’l Review is GOPe. They will support Jeb Bush or Scott Walker.

Cruz has handled the interviews with the MSM beautifully, unlike Rand Paul who attacks rather than answering uncomfortable questions. He came off as a petulant child.

Cruz relishes what the MSM throws at him and he does a masterful job of listening, then takes away their argument. He had one interviewer who crossed his arms across his chest, body language that defeats their blows. That is intimidation. That is turning Liberals into basketcases. And yes, they hate him because he shows them up for exactly what they are and he does so respectfully. Now that is a leader and a winner.

“Cruz is definitely the man of the moment.”

I believe he was born for such a time as this.

His speech was really good and you could tell he was well received in Nashville.

Could be wrong. I sense NR wants Cruz to fade. I don’t want him to be hot today. I want conflagration that lasts at least two more years.

Now Still, you say the writer plays the ego card when he writes: “it’s certain that the Texas senator is going to relish his big role in the spotlight for a long time.”

But then you say “Cruz relishes what the MSM throws at him”. Oops! Are you playing the ego card??? -:)

You make an excellent point about “intimidation”, first time I read it on the Board— generally it’s “fear” (overused, as in they fear “x”)

Usually, the interviewer can’t wait to interview the conservative, hoping to ask the “silver bullet” question that both humiliates and torpedoes the candidate. But Sen. Cruz is like William F. Buckley, and the interviewer is more concerned that Cruz will humiliate him.

That’s intimidation, you’re right.

I should have clarified and stated that Cruz wins on every one on one tv interview. I love how he stares them straight in the eyes. He also moves toward them to address the question. Their body language betrays them every single time. Gotcha fail! :)
