U.S. Sen. Kirk rips Obama's Iran framework ("total meltdown")

Republican U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk on Thursday slammed President Barack Obama's announcement of a framework nuclear agreement with Iran, contending it will lead to a "total meltdown" in U.S. relations with Middle Eastern allies.

Kirk, a former Navy Reserve intelligence officer, is among the strongest supporters of using economic sanctions against Iran in an effort to force the country to divest any efforts to gain access to nuclear weapons. Under the conditions of the framework reached between the U.S., five other world powers and Iran, United Nations sanctions that have threatened Iran's economy would be lifted.

"It looks like they did a total cave from what I saw. A complete lifting of sanctions will return Iran to a position where its economy is actually growing faster than the American economy," Kirk told reporters after his City Club address.

"There is a perception right now in the Persian Gulf that the United States is allied to Iran. That is undermining our ability to work with Arab countries in that area. I would say that in the wreckage of this cave, there's going to be a lot of work to be done to overcome the perception that the U.S. is allied with Iran," he said.

Kirk said the U.S. "should proceed unilaterally with a new round of sanctions" against Iran but acknowledged Western allies would not be supportive in light of the framework agreement.

"Right now, I would say we're probably going to be in a total meltdown of ability of the United States to work with Arab countries in that area," the first-term Republican senator said.

This really distills down to “political tripe at any price to democracy and the free Western world”. It certainly has nothing to do with peace, anti-Islamic-terrorism, getting rid of ISIL, or any other meaningful pursuit.

Radical political insanity.

Given that its very possible the American voter is either too stupid, too self interested or too apathetic to prevent another disaster like Obama being put in the white house in the future, our former allies will never trust us again.

He’s an ass.

Apparently, he’s going to vote to confirm the leftist psycho-b!tch Lynch.

What is the matter with these dooshes? They get elected posing as constitutionalists and then, once they get back to DC, they ‘grow’ in office.

You mean like voting for Lynch Kirk? You mean like that?

If the treaty is really as bad and as dangerous as we believe it is, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and ? will take out Iran’s nuclear sites.

Iman Obozo and Kerry will find out about that action when they see a replay on Fox News.

Meanwhile the republican senator has just announced his support for attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch possibly becoming the 51st vote she needs for confirmation.

Has there ever been a more appropriate name for a lib attorney general than Lynch ?

Mark Kirk is just trying for some cred, because he knows he will not be re-elected in November, 2016.

Its the RINO version of 'triangulation'>

At election time he'll accuse those who don't support him because of his betrayal on the Lynch nomination as 'self conscious conservatives/purists'.

Sounds like a deal made with the Obama administration behind closed doors.

“Just come out as supporting Lynch for Attorney General, and we’ll let you yell at us all you want about Iran so you can still look good for the conservatives!”
