French police tell Paris Match and Bild to “hand over” what the two media claim is a “genuine” mobile phone video taken inside the Germanwings plane.
A mobile phone clip purportedly filming the final seconds inside the cabin of the doomed Germanwings airliner minutes before it crashed is ’genuine’, two European media insist.
French authorities initially firmly denied the existence of the clip, which allegedly relays in a “few seconds” scenes of chaos and passengers screaming “My God” in several languages. But they are now calling on anyone in possession of such a film to “hand it over to investigators”.
French magazine Paris Match and German daily Bild said the authenticity of the video is “unquestionable” and that it had been retrieved from the wreckage of last Tuesday’s crash by “a source close to the inquiry”.
The magazine’s journalists added they had seen the video. “We have checked and rechecked its authenticity,” a Paris Match spokesman told the Telegraph.
The phone had not survived the crash, but the memory card on which it was stored had, the two publications insisted.
“Its provenance leaves no room for doubt,” wrote Paris Match.

This video was probably grabbed by an entity that grabs stuff via cellphones. Memory card not required.

This morning, the news said the video may be a hoax. If it is, shame on those who perpetrated the hoax. If I was a family member of a passenger who perished in that crash, the pranksters would be meeting their Maker sooner rather than later.
Yeah but was it in landscape mode?
Yes I know pressurized at 5500 feet opening the door would have been impossible but I would have given it a shot. Terminal speed of a falling human is about 125 mph - better than the 550 mph of that ghost ship.

I guess it depends on the descent rate. Even a descent over a 6 year period can be pretty insufferable.
why would someone going down be recording this?
It would have been all over in less than a second when it hit. Say the plane was traveling at 500mph ... that equals around 750fps ... the length of that Airbus was about 120ft. Total time at impact: 0.17sec. IOW it would take about that much time for the tail to hit the front of the plane crushing the cabin.
Unfortunately, that cartoon depicts our nations situation perfectly. We truly have a Kamakazi President.
When I was a teenager we had a pretty bad fire in our house and for a few minutes while waiting for the fire department I truly thought I was gonna die...largely because of all the smoke.During those several minutes I became very calm...almost dreamlike...and my life stared to flash before my eyes.Yes,it really did happen.
Of course mine could have been an unusual reaction....
People record everything, nowadays. At the start the person probably didn’t know they were going to crash. He/she was probably just recording the events as they were taking place.................

People record all sorts of things. In a situation like that, it’s possible for someone to think they are recording an almost unheard of set of circumstances, and think that they would be okay afterwards (namely the plane would not crash) ... and would have “the proof” afterwards, with this video.
People have gone through big drops in altitude in commercial airliners, where people have bounced off the ceilings, and stuff has flown up in the air and tumbled down the aisles and things have come out of the overheads.
You’re looking at this with the absolute knowledge of the crash. The people, at that time, don’t have that knowledge, although they know something is seriously wrong ... but then again ... people bouncing off the ceilings is totally wrong too, and people have survived that.
8 hours is just as bad.

My videos on my iPhone and iPad don’t reside on a server, unless I do a backup of my entire device. I can also turn that off, as a function. SO ... in light of that, I don’t know why you would expect it to be on a server.
