PROVIDENCE, R.I. (March 31, 2015) - Public school teachers in Cranston, Rhode Island, will be allowed to observe Good Friday despite objections from the city's school department.

A court order issued Friday says teachers may take the day off as long as they submit a request no later than April 1. The order says the school department can neither discipline teachers for requesting the day off nor deduct their pay.

Incredible; that observance of a Christian holy day has to be allowed by Big Brother.

Everyone should declare themselves part of a sect of Islam and then see if they get any flack from these people.

Our “proper perception” is that we have to have “Separation of Church and State” which is in Stalin’s Constitution. It is not in ours. Our States had State Churches established for some States.

Now, it is true—that we can’t demand the attendance of any “Church” because many Christians and the Constitution believes in Free Will and we can’t favor one Christian Church over another. But we can outlaw irrational, evil belief systems if they are antithetical to the Laws of Nature and nature’s God (Christian Ethics) which are essential elements in our Legal system.

At the Founding, the culture never abided “atheist” faith to be practiced-—in our public square, particularly in the judiciary. If you don’t believe in a “God”, then you can’t believe that we have Individual Natural Rights from God—which is essential for our type of Republic which can’t exist if we are just a democracy-—(mob (irrational) rule).

Saying the word “God” and “Jesus Christ” was banned—which is censoring of speech which will erase the concepts in the next generation. Controlling Words, controls the allowed concepts in children. Our schools have used operant conditioning and sexualization to deform character in our children and destroy normal sexual identity formation (destroying Virtue in children is an easy way to collapse culture and create dumb Ferguson types). We need local control of all schools and all curricula.

We SHOULD be FREE to transmit our culture and belief system to our children -—that includes using the Public Square and the public schools.
Christianity and Deism are the only two belief systems which are aligned with Natural Law Theory and Reason-—basis of our jurisprudence system.

By banning Jesus from our schools in the 50s and 60s (unconstitutional), they were banning the transmission of our culture and morality. It is erasing worldview from the children—demeaning the parent’s belief system. The faiths allowed in the public schools (there is ALWAYS A FAITH PROMOTED) was satanism, paganism, occultism, earth worship, materialism, naturalism, etc——all very irrational belief systems which are antithetical to our Constitution.

Mormonism was irrational and polygamy was not allowed-—where women are reduced to cattle; where women have less worth than man. Individual Natural Rights are unalienable.....women couldn’t even give that true “Right” away.

Most Christian religions are based on Reasoned Faith-—unlike any other religion. (D’Souza). It is why their worldview created the Age of Reason and Modern Science and the USA Constitution. There is no “better” or more “rational” religion and ALL people have Faith. The only “Faith” embraced by our Founding Fathers is a Rational one-—not “hindi” ethics—not voodoo ethics, not pagan, satanic ethics (sodomy), etc.

There is more science that proves there is a God, than not. (Dr. John Lennox).

We have to promote Christian Ethics ONLY in our “Justice” System. Justice is the Queen of Virtue and Reasoned: ALL Just Law promotes public virtue (Montesquieu), otherwise civil society collapses.

All Just Law would never promote sodomy or the idea that marriage could be consummated by two males-——pure evil and totally irrational. Without Reason and Virtue, law can never be “Just” and only Just Law is constitutional.

This story leaves a lot of questions. Are they supposed to work on Good Friday because of making up snow days or something?

I can’t see that a public school would be scheduled for this day on its normal calendar.

It means exactly what I said. This area has a large Catholic population, so the left(schools) backed off.

Why should a Christian holy day be treated differently than any other religion’s holy day?

There’s a lot of Catholic haters on this website, so I wasn’t sure what you meant.

The school did not back off in this case, they had to be ordered by a judge.

I have to assume that this is an issue because of trying to make up snow days. The school where I live floated the idea of having the kids go to school on Good Friday, but got enough of a backlash to drop that idea. To make up for snow days, that is.

“There’s a lot of Catholic haters on this website,”

I have noticed a few myself, but I am most decidedly not one of them.

Why should a Christian holy day be treated differently than any other religion’s holy day?

Because of America's Christian Heritage.

There is only one Truth.

When I was growing up, we started Easter Vacation (not Spring Break) at noon on Good Friday so we could worship at the midday service. Here in Norway, the country closes down from Maunday Thursday til the following Tuesday to (allegedly) celebrate our risen Lord.
