You can now "trek" Mount Everest from the comfort of your sofa, as Google Maps launches new Street Views of the Khumbu valleys in Nepal.
While you might not be able to get to the summit, you can explore many of the trails and towns in the region.
The area is home to the Sherpa community with many acting as guides and porters on Mount Everest.
"I guided the Google Maps team through my home region to collect Street View imagery," says Apa Sherpa in a blog.

I have no interest in climbing it but the views are cool.
You can simply trek, which is just extended hiking. Albeit at altitude.
I have no interest in climbing Everest either, but trekking has afforded me some of the best views I will ever experience in my lifetime.

I was just checking out Pictured Rocks on Lake Superior. I’ve seen them from the top lots of times but never from the water.
Cool. I am using Google Maps and Google Earth in a lot of my current work.
Its nice that Google Earth pro is now free.
Can I do this later? I’m pretty beat right. Not ready for a hike.
My wife has always wanted to call it he Mackinac bridge.
The last time we crossed it on the Gold Wing we
had some kinda scary wind.She asked me if anyone has
ever been blown off.

This is as closest as most of will dare to get to surmounting an 8000 thousander. Not for the faint of heart.
