CAPT Greco, commanding the USS Roosevelt, is an old squadron mate and friend.

Being nuclear-powered, it doesn’t need to carry oil for its boilers. That leaves a LOT of room for carrying aviation fuel and crew food. Besides, as they use up crew provisions, they can open additional lanes in the bowling alley. :=)

Just conducting routine 12 hr/day flight ops will use up the JP-5 in less than a week.

I was on an aircraft carrier and I never could find the bowling alley everyone talked about.

We were on the Ranger once with a crewman guide and never did find the engine room.

There's a list of facts about half-way through. I hope this one is a bit of disinformation:
* She is armed with two $165,400 (£110,498) 'sea sparrow' missiles, capable of hitting targets 10 miles away.
TWO???
Two launchers, each of which have, if I'm correct, 4 missiles. Though only two launchers on a ship her size does sound rather low.

I was on an aircraft carrier and I never could find the bowling alley everyone talked about. As an ex-tin can sailor, I can only say what I've heard. I believe that the bowling alley was located two compartments forward of the shuffleboard courts. :=)

when i was on the marilyn monroe (john f kennedy) back in ‘77, they used to toss the trash from the port quarter.
they would also summon the jarheads to the port quarter for target practice...
when the trash was tossed from the ship, there would be massive flocks of seagulls...
the next day we would have rabbit for chow...
the rabbit looked like chicken legs, except smaller..
kinda like the size of a seagulls legs.......
