The Iowa Antidote [Slate throws Hillary an anchor]
Slate ^ | March 12, 2015 | John Dickerson

DES MOINES, Iowa—Bill Clinton had a strategy when he faced the kind of difficult moment his wife is enduring now. He would throw himself into campaigning or his work. Let the press and his partisan pursuers bleat, he was going to return to important issues. By engaging in a flurry of activity, he showed voters that no matter what the odds, he would work for them. “I’ll never forget who gave me a second chance,” he famously said during the 1992 New Hampshire primary, when he came back from what seemed like an impossible deficit, “and I’ll be there for you until the last dog dies.”

That is what Hillary Clinton should do in Iowa, say some Democratic strategists. In order to turn the page on the questions swirling around her use of a private email account, she should throw her back into an Iowa campaign in April, when the last translucent veil is dropped from the pretense that she’s not running. (Were she not running, she wouldn’t have bothered with the U.N. press conference).

Clinton’s allies and advisers believe one of the bedrock attributes that voters appreciate about the former secretary of state is her tenacity. Beaten, she is never defeated. That was the story of her New Hampshire primary victory over Sen. Barack Obama in 2008. He’d beaten her in Iowa, but she didn’t give up.

She can show that again by returning to Iowa now. She doesn’t face a real challenge there in the caucuses, but working hard would show that she wasn’t waiting for a coronation. Furthermore, amid the email flap, the image of her working the crowd would make a nice foil. Under siege, her response should be to charge ahead. That would be a direct contrast to her ambivalence about the state in 2008......

Clintons Return White House Furniture

"..... The gifts in question were: A kitchen table and four chairs valued at $3,650 from Lee Ficks of Cincinnati, Ohio; a $1,000 needlepoint rug from David Martinous of Little Rock, Ark.; two sofas, an easy chair and an ottoman worth $19,900 from Steve Mittman of New York; lamps valued at $1,170 from Stuart Shiller of Hialeah, Fla.; and a $2,843 sofa from Brad Noe, a businessman from California.....

The gifts were just one of several flaps that followed the Clintons out of the White House:....

Lawmakers are questioning Clinton’s desire to rent expensive office space in New York City at government expense. Because of the contention, the former president’s foundation has offered to pay at least $300,000 of an estimated $790,000 annual rent for the office Clinton favors.....

Mrs. Clinton, the new senator from New York, has faced questions about the propriety of accepting the gifts in the period between her election and her swearing-in. Senate rules would have limited what she could accept had she been a senator......" Members of both parties also have criticized Clinton for granting scores of eleventh-hour clemency requests, including the pardon of Marc Rich, a fugitive in Switzerland from 51 counts in the United States of tax evasion and fraud." ......

The Founding Father… and Mother… - They’ve created the ultimate scam for themselves: The Clinton Foundation!

"Hillary Clinton came of age during the Burn-the-Bra era of the Sixties, but she did not adopt its disdain for foundations. Quite the contrary. Bill and Hill have created the master scam of our generation, ripping off individuals, institutions, corporations and even entire countries… and they call it a foundation! One thing is clear: the Clintons are engirdling the globe and the fat cats have to suck it up.

Truth is I was way ahead of the Man from Hope and the Queen of de Niles on this score. Decades ago I was advising wealthy friends to stop constructing all these elaborate trusts which line the pockets of lawyers and eventually breed various headaches. It makes much more sense to throw most of your wealth into a huge pot and call it a foundation. The law requires giving five percent of its assets to charitable causes each year. Stick to that number and if the endowment earns more than five percent, it is essentially turning a profit like a business. Nor is there ever an estate, as the structure holds fast for ensuing generations to pass through.

Put another way, you can run a hedge fund and call it a foundation. The family funding the private foundation retains control over its officers and employees. In fact each family member can be listed as an officer in some capacity. You can then count all sorts of outlays, such as flying around in private planes and staying in upscale hotels, as foundation expenses. This enables you to shield a significant portion of their real income from taxes. If they are influential enough to attract outside donors, or to strong-arm them, pretty much every conversation you have with Bertie Wooster about polo in the Drones Club is foundation business.

Put another way, you can run a slush fund and call it a foundation."................

Hillary sits upon a throne of lies - and she knows that we know it.

------

Hillary Clinton's fear of the trail - How the email flap reinforced all that she dislikes about running for president.

"This was the week when Hillary Clinton’s highest aspiration, being president, collided with her deepest fear — actually running for president.

It’s not that Clinton craves a coronation, people close to her say, it’s just that she wants to forestall her leap into the sulfurous political lava as long as possible. The chaotic indignity of Tuesday’s press conference on her use of a private email server as Secretary of State did nothing to change that opinion, or convince her to push up the campaign start date......

....Yet for close observers of Clinton, Tuesday’s performance offered the glimmer of a new more conciliatory approach, and a little more ease in the campaign klieg lights.

“Looking back, it would’ve been better for me to use two separate phones and two email accounts,” she told reporters with a sheepish smile. “I thought using one device would be simpler, and obviously, it hasn’t worked out that way.”

Several people close to Clinton pointed out that those remarks — widely criticized for garbling the technical details in question — represented a change from her behavior in 2008, when Clinton was almost universally unwilling to admit fault for fear of being labeled indecisive (In the last campaign, it took her months, for instance, to concede that she had not actually flown into a live-fire zone during a trip to the Balkans in the 1990s).

But this week Clinton agreed, without complaint, when advisers suggested she concede that she made a mistake in using her private email account. To one veteran of Hillaryland, it was part of a welcome trend of humanizing contrition: Last summer she issued a semi-apology last summer for suggesting she was “dead broke” upon leaving the White House in 2000.

“Maybe things will be different this time when she finally gets in,” the person said. “Or maybe not.”

Back then there wasn’t anywhere near 25 years of despicable provenance with Bill ‘out there on record’. Not so for Hillary!.

She’s gone and gotten herself into a legal dilemma that’s gonna take a lot of lawyers a lot of time, and she has no “work” to do for the American people - she holds no office, position (except on the Foundation for Foreign Bribery). What’s she gonna do in Iowa? Go on another damned “Listening Tour” with some canned speeches retreaded out of the pages of the NOW charter? She is the antithesis of a woman facing normal life challenges.

The author may be just taunting Hillary in this piece. Her Thighness has no appetite for mingling with the hoi polloi, and her health and age make it impossible for her to do on a heavy schedule. She’s either queen by acclamation or she’s dead meat.

The bigger point is that if you work for the government, your emails are not your own. Can you imagine the press if Dick Cheney had his own email secret server in his house in Wyoming and 2 years after he leaves office, he and his daughter sort through what emails to send to his former gov. office computers?

The whole point of a secret Clinton Server was to hide and conceal almost everything she did at state as she was raising money for the "foundation". Unbelievable conflict. Can't the dems come up with anybody else who isn't connected to the Chicago mob or the Dixie mob?

They’ve created the ultimate scam: The Clinton Foundation! ....they run a slush fund and call it a "foundation."........or as some uncharitably call it "Hillary's Super-Pac."

The Clintons' controls its officers. Each Clinton family member can be listed as an officer in some capacity. They then get all sorts of tax-free perks..... flying around in private planes, staying in upscale hotels. Thus a significant portion of their real income is shielded from taxes.

The Clintons work the foundation game like an extortion racket.....strong-arming donors and giving them special standing courtesy of their public offices. For Bill Clinton, pretty much every conversation he has can be chalked up to "foundation business"...and written off as "Charity."

"Smile everybody. Another $100 million came in today."

====================================================

The Buckraking Clintons sucking up foreign donations is morally reprehensible----but the real crimes pare what exactly they are doing with the corporate/foreign monies once its in their Foundation's tax-exempt coffers.

It's becoming clearer why Bill Clinton used a shocking 21 phone nos and email addresses----because L/E knows multiple phone no's and emails is an indication of possible money-laundering and tax evasion.

==================================================

THE REPORT WE ALL WANT TO SEE:

<><> dates and times of Hillary's emails WRT to US foreign policy issues,

<><> dates and times of Obama's official statements on said foreign policy issues,

<><> dates and times of foreign govt donations to the Clinton Foundation(s).

==================================================

Let the money laundering, tax evasion and govt fraud investigations begin....start w/ the Clinton Foundation, and its vast tentacles.

The whole point of Hillary's secret server was to hide and conceal her
activities at state....... which was raising money for the "foundation".

New evidence indicates a solid connection between: (1) donors to the Clinton Foundation, (2) companies receiving federal contracts from foreign countries, and, (3) Clinton Foundation donors receiving favorable treatment from the State Dept.

<><> Sixty companies contributed $26 million to the Clinton Foundation.

<><> Forty four of those companies also contributed to a $3.2 billion dollar fund established at the Clinton Global Initiative (a wing of the foundation).

<><> At least 25 companies made contributions to fifteen private/public partnerships set up by ex-Pres Clinton;

And who administered all of them?.......the State Department w/ Hillary at the helm.

==================================================

The lucrative foreign contracts to companies that were Clinton Foundation donors were all administered by the State Department.....w/ Hillary at the helm.

<><> questions remain WRT how often CEOs and company reps traveled with Hillary;

<><> did the countries giving these companies lucrative contracts receive anything from Clinton?

===================================================

CONNECTING THE DOTS Then-Secy Hillary gave Haiti $3.1 billion tax dollars from the tax-subsidized Foundation for Earthquake Relief.

This was followed by Hillary’s brother getting a rare gold mining permit; the last permit Haiti issued was over fifty years before.

===================================================

POINTS TO PONDER:

<><> As Secretary of State, Hillary devoted much of her time in 2010 to the Haiti recovery.

<><> The State Dept recently issued a "special management alert"-----that it had "no idea" what happened to $6 billion used to pay its contractors.....it warned “significant financial risk and a lack of internal control at State has led to billions of unaccounted dollars over the last six years....under Hillary's watch.

<><> Bill Clinton got his hands on hundreds of million of dollars while Hillary controlled the State Dept checkbook..... monies that were meant for Haiti.

<><> the newlywed Clintons spent their honeymoon in Haiti.

<><> listed as a Clinton Foundation donor: Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund---organized at the behest of Obama: GHWB-WJC principles.

After the earthquake in Haiti, the Clinton Foundation raised around $36 million for disaster relief, while the Obama Administration kicked in $3.6 billion.

=================================================

Protesters gathered outside the Clinton Foundation in Harlem to complain about "missing money" from the US State Dept's recovery effort for the 2010 Haitian earthquake:

"New Yorkers with roots in Haiti protested, saying the picture [of the Haiti recovery] isn't so rosy," said the NY1-TV anchor. "People raised their voices to call attention to the missing money.

They protested outside the offices of the Clinton Foundation, which helped lead the reconstruction fund."

The protesters claimed that the US State Dept's $10 billion meant to help rebuild Haiti did little to help the country after the devastating 2010 quake. And that much of the money went to non-Haitian companies.

Said one protester, “The Haitian people are still living in very difficult conditions, still living under tents, while Bill Clinton and his cronies--they waste this money."
