HEADQUARTERS ISSUES NEW DETAILS ON LEGAL REPRESENTATION [SAE National Organization]
SAE.net ^ | 03/13/2015 | SAE National

Posted on 03/13/2015 9:32:48 AM PDT by GIdget2004

The Sigma Alpha Epsilon national headquarters, or national fraternity, has not retained legal representation, nor do we intend to pursue any action against the University of Oklahoma. Based on reports that have been brought to our attention, certain local alumni may have retained legal representation, but we cannot validate those reports nor are we involved in that matter. There has been no communication from the alumni advisory group to the national headquarters since the chapter closing. We support and respect the university administrators’ decision to revoke recognition of the group.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s leadership continues to proceed with bringing all suspended members of the University of Oklahoma chapter forth before a commission to expel them from the national organization, which will revoke their membership permanently. At the same time, the headquarters has learned of the expulsion of two chapter members from the university, which we support. Although university officials have not communicated directly with headquarters staff or leadership, we believe that these men must be held responsible for their actions.

In separate statements, the two men who have been expelled from the university have mentioned that the song was “taught to us.” However, as has been maintained in previous statements, the national fraternity does not teach such a racist, hateful chant, and this chant is not part of any education or training. Our investigation has found very likely that the men learned the song from fellow chapter members, which reiterates why Sigma Alpha Epsilon did not hesitate to close the chapter completely because of the culture that may have been fostered in the group.

That is a very long memo simply to tell the OU SAE to pound sand.

It is the drama queen Boren who will wind up pounding sand.

The new tidbit here is that they’re planning on expelling everyone from the Chapter. Regardless on whether they were involved in the incident or not.

Not sure how throwing guys who may very well be innocent under the bus is going to help them nationally. But it’s their organization ...

OU is on solid ground and will not be sued by the expelled students.

That is unless the former Sooners want to go to a courtroom on national TV and talk about how they wanted blacks to be hanged from trees.

That’s simply for leverage.

Has it ever been confirmed that the two who were expelled were the same two that issued public apologies? Because one of those boys said he had withdrawn from the University on Monday; I don’t think Boren expelled anyone until Tuesday.

I find it hard to believe that anyone in the chapter didn't know about the song, so I guess the national chapter is taking a 'guilt by association' position.

Depends, I guess.

I was in a faternity, but we were somewhat distributed into different subgroups/clicques. There were guys I only saw once a week at our dinner meetings and I generally had no idea what they were up to outside of Chapter business stuff.

For instance I found out, years after graduation, that there was one clicque that was really into some hedonistic, Shades of Grey type stuff with a group of girls from a sorority. I, and many others, had absolutely no clue about it.

But thats just my personal experience talking.

OU is in quicksand constitutionally speaking. In the USA speech is protected and state actors a are bound by due process no matter how much you dislike the speech.

The only option these guys have left for financial sustenance is to win a big chunk from OU. Given the malicious nature of the PC fascists and the black supremacists where could these guys attend school or be hired?

It is perfectly legal to deny a person employment due to their character.

I know the song is bad, but since when is it a crime worthy of expulsion to “know” a song. Look what those filthy rappers sing about. Look what the blacks said about wanting white cops killed. This situation needs to be put into some sort of perspective. It’s just out of control with the reactions.

Here is one of the allegedly expelled OU students.

Let me know if you want to start raising cash to help him with his financial subsistence.

Stupid behavior has repercussions. There was a post on FR not too long ago about that dumb twit that posted a picture of her flipping the bird at Arlington Cemetery and got fired for it. They were saying that it's been a couple of years and the act is still haunting her, causing her to be turned down for jobs, how she's always afraid of people finding out and confronting her on it, so on and so forth. I did not have a single bit of sympathy for her and her plight. I have none for these boys. They should have know what they were doing wsa wrong. They did it anyway. They're paying a price for it. At the end of the day it is nobody's fault but their own.

Sure it is. That is why they will be broke forever unless they cash in on the clear violation of their rights by OU.

The PC Nazis and their fellow travelers have picked a safe and odious target for destruction. Make no mistake that this is a dry run for how they intend to treat other speech they dislike including conservative and biblical. Mark my words the next national rage will be over remarks against homosexuality.

OU did nothing to violate their rights.

OU did not force them to sing a song about hanging knacks from trees avid OU did not post a video of their doing so on the internet.

These boys ruined their own names and no one else is at fault.

I completely agree that they knew it was wrong and should have known better, however, I hate to see a 20 year old boy’s life ruined because of stupid alcohol fueled behavior. I have a 20 something son and would be horrified if it were him in the video, but would not want his life ruined over it. Young adult/kids can do very stupid things but singing a bad, racist song should not ruin them. Murdering someone or actually committing a crime and being convicted should do more to alter their lives.
