[Wal-Mart board member Hillary] Clinton Remained Silent As Wal-Mart Fought Unions [flashback]

In six years as a member of the Wal-Mart board of directors, between 1986 and 1992, Hillary Clinton remained silent as the world's largest retailer waged a major campaign against labor unions seeking to represent store workers.

Wal-Mart's anti-union efforts were headed by one of Clinton's fellow board members, John Tate, a Wal-Mart executive vice president who also served on the board with Clinton for four of her six years.

Tate was fond of repeating, as he did at a managers meeting in 2004 after his retirement, what he said was his favorite phrase, "Labor unions are nothing but blood-sucking parasites living off the productive labor of people who work for a living."

Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton and other company officials often recounted how they relied on Tate to lead the company's successful anti-union efforts.

An ABC News analysis of the videotapes of at least four stockholder meetings where Clinton appeared shows she never once rose to defend the role of American labor unions.

Wal Mart becoming insolvent because it caves to the unions and has to raise prices above those of its non-union competitors would not help her political case at all.

Putting Democrat politicians on the board at anywhere from $50,000 per year to $50,000 per meeting (Which, if I recall, she never attended) is protection money.

Many “retired” politicians get their payoffs and bribes through membership on corporate boards.

Just ask iGore about his approximately $30 million stock option deal.

Another Alphabet Network attacking her thighness. Wow, the left SURE DOESN’T want another Klintoon in the Oval Office. Who does Soros and the Iranians want in the White House? Do they think they can push Obongaloid through for another term or perhaps President for Life?

Wasn’t Arkansas a right to work state when the Clintons were there?

"Labor unions are nothing but blood-sucking parasites living off the productive labor of people who work for a living."

I can't find anything wrong with that statement.

Bill and Hillary were not wealthy when Bill was governor and Hillary was serving on the Wal-Mart board while working at the Rose law firm. Both of those jobs, as well as her successful commodity trades courtesy of Don Tyson of Tyson Foods, were a payoff, allowing the Clintons to begin amassing wealth and to live a lifestyle larger than the small salary of the Arkansas governor.

This is not unlike Michelle Obama’s executive assignment at the Chicago hospital which allowed she and Barack to live in a million dollar home while he earned a pittance as a state legislator. Recall how Michelle’s salary was doubled to $300,000 when he became a US Senator. Then, when Michelle resigned to move to Washington, the job was eliminated by the hospital.

Reagan, the two Bushes, Romney, and McCain’s wife have all been wealthy so there has been no need for prospective Republican presidential candidate spouses to be placed in positions for the purpose of supplementing the income of a rising elected official. Recently convicted Republican Governor McDonnell of Virginia, and his wife, should have taken a page from the notebook of the Clintons and Obama’s by finding a highly paid outside make work job for Mrs. McDonnell instead of soliciting gifts directly from well heeled contributors to supplement their income.

Ted Cruz’s wife no doubt earns a good sum as an executive at Goldman Sachs. I don’t know about the employment status of Mrs. Rubio, Mrs. Jindal, Mrs. Walker, or Mrs. Christie. The wealthy Bush family doesn’t require outside income which is fortunate given the gossip about Mrs. Bush being a big spender.

Corporate board assignments are frequently used payoffs to retiring or defeated politicians of both parties who have paid their dues and supported the party. In the same way, many retiring generals and admirals who made procurement decisions take lucrative board or executive assignments with defense contractors. The perks of elected office, or senior government service, are nice. All one has to do is support the agenda and not make waves. Hence, the number of conservative ideologues who go to Washington, view the landscape from the inside, and choose comfort over cause.
