Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Friday night he is standing by his support for the Common Core school standards rejected by a segment of the GOP’s most conservative members, including other potential presidential candidates.

“Raising expectations and having accurate assessments of where kids are is essential for success, and I’m not going to back down on that,” Bush said during a congressional fundraiser in suburban Des Moines. […]

Deflecting questions about why some potential GOP presidential prospects have shifted on the issue, Bush told reporters after the event: “I know what I believe. I believe in higher standards that develop critical thinking skills.” …

If Rove and the WaPo have it their way there will be two Democrat candidates in 2016.

Jebster will make McCain and Romney look like winners.
Won’t be 49 state sweep, but it’ll be a landslide.

Hey, with Hillary bowing out, the Democrats need a proven campaigner. What if....

If they knock out Hillary, who will run as Jeb’s VP?

I’ll second that. A man with zero appeal; “I’m almost as good a democrat as ___________”.

Excellent. Bush/Warren vs Cruz/Walker. Or Cruz/West, maybe.

He says he’s a Republican.....darned if I can see it, though.

He’s the perfect nominee for the GOP. If he wins, the voters have endorsed amnesty, common core and all the rest. If he loses, we get it anyway.

The RNC/DNC divisions of the Uniparty just want to make sure we can’t elect a President who will stop the invasion.

Today, the Arkansas House (IIRC) voted to stop giving Common Core-linked test. The issue now goes to the Senate.

Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson has formed a task force to review Common Core and recommend whether the standards are a good fit for the state.

If states do throw out Common Core during the next year, that is not going to bode well for Jeb.

Nope, the reason Jeb gets nominated is the half a dozen more conservative candidates will bludgeon each other, divide the votes and clear the path for lone moderate RINO Jeb.

Rinse and repeat of 2012.
Rinse and repeat of 2008.
Rinse and repeat of 2004.

Is’nt common core just a measurement of student achievements? I am more concerned about the huge budget for federal spending on education. With national debt growing by the hour, it is a horrendous waste. K-12 education should be a local matter.

At every turn Jeb Bush SHOWS CLEARLY how far “out of touch” he is with the American public.

I have two kids struggling through this common core crap. They hate it. The teachers hate it. It is an institutionalized dumbing down of our children.

Jeb and Governor Kasich love it. Reason enough to never vote for either of them.

CC has to do with content.

I have not delved into it much, but I did read that it came out of a similar program developed by Janet Napolitano and a couple of others.
