Governor's Islamist Terror Comparison Shocks Wisconsin Protesters Scott Walker’s CPAC account of 2011 protests in state’s capitol unnerve those who were present as some accuse him of painting working people as the enemy

Ed Pilkington 27 February 2015 Participants in the massive political protests in Wisconsin in 2011 have reacted with a mixture of shock, disbelief and anger to remarks by Governor Scott Walker which compared his handling of the peaceful demonstrations to his stance on Islamist terrorism were he to become president.

Walker, who is enjoying a surge of support among the conservative wing of the Republican party amid early jostling for position in the 2016 presidential contest, made his controversial comments to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) gathering of rightwing activists in Maryland on Thursday.

In his speech, he referred to “radical Islamic terrorists” before immediately evoking the Madison protests: “If I can take on 100,000 protesters, I can do the same across the world.”

Back in Wisconsin, Walker’s contentious comparison provoked expressions of astonishment from those who took part in the protests four years ago that erupted after the newly elected governor moved to strip public sector unions of most of their collective bargaining rights. Thousands of teachers, social workers, off-duty police officers and other public employees occupied the state capitol in Madison for almost three weeks.

Peaceful demonstrations?

Didn’t the “peaceful demonstrators” cause MILLIONS of dollars of damage to the state’s capitol buildings?

Didn’t they smash windows and furniture, defecate and urinate in offices and in corridors, and beat up people who disagreed with them?

The only difference I can see is they didn’t kill anybody, but their methodology was parallel, that’s for sure.

Wow. So much for that vaunted sarcastic sense of humor, excuse me, humour Brits are supposed to have.

Walker was 100% right. He stood up to union bosses and thugs in a way few politicians would do. His family received death threats. That is kind of resolve that is required in a president.

Walker was never against workers. He was against union bosses forcibly taking their money and ripping them off.

When Walker entered office Wisconsin was almost bankrupt. Walker turned the state around and survived many orchestrated attempts to remove him from office.

I'm sure he can survive the false narratives and attacks by the MSM.

SHOCKING! What is this country coming to when an organized mass movement that used financial fraud, intimidation, property damage, frightening opponents at their home, voter fraud, misuse of physicians notes, and the prosecutor and police power to suppress their opponents,,,cant get a little respect?

The article calls what happened here in WI peaceful.

That is the biggest lie I’ve head since John Effin Kerry said we are much safer now than ever.

What they did to my state and how they threatened the lives of conservatives was terrorism.

They threatened to gut the governor’s wife like a deer. That is a direct quote from my governor.

Many family members of the governor and lt.governor were accosted in public places and liberal nuts came to their homes to harrass them.

They chased and mobbed republicans as they tried to enter the capital building for work.

They used little kids, taken from classrooms, as props, and paraded them around during the protests.

The cold greedy liberal teaceher’s union was on full evil display for a long and sickening time. They hate him and us, the taxpayer.

You’re right, they didn’t kill anyone but there were death threats. Disgusting people.

Walker meant he's going to do the “Obama solution” for terrorists - he's going to find the protesters JOBS.

Peaceful??!! We love how Scott Walker handled those ‘peaceful demonstrators.’ Love it that he’s caused the vapors. Love it that he nailed them.

When you stop work to protest and vandalize, you aren’t a worker, you are a thug, and that makes you very much like a terrorist. When you strong arm people into your unions because they need work to survive, that is a form of terrorism. Support right to work laws, and stop the terrorism.

One woman slapped Barrett in the face as he was leaving his headquarters after having ceded before the polls closed. I hope she was arrested for assault.

The rioters in Madison trashed the capitol. While that doesn’t compare with beheading “random victims”, the rioters should be rounded up and given one-way bus rides to Minneapolis.

YES, they did!!!

The core Union member in Wisconsin cannot see beyond the end of their driveways.

All they see is a hefty wage for unskilled work & a system that makes it very hard to fire anyone.

I can tell you lots of stories about working there when I was younger-—age 17 to 24. Now 75. But I haven’t forgotten some of the stupid things those union members did on the job. Workers at American Motors in Kenosha used to think it was really cute to put an empty coke bottle inside the door panels of a car they were assembling & making the new owner chase a rattle for an extended period of time. They disgusted me then & they still do-—55 years later.
