WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress closed in Friday on approving a short-term spending bill for the Homeland Security Department that would avert a partial agency shutdown hours before it was to begin.

The legislation also leaves intact Obama administration executive actions on immigration that Republicans have vowed to overturn. But Republicans insisted that passing a short-term bill preserved their ability to keep fighting them.

An early vote in the House clearing the way for final passage of the bill was approved easily, 240-183.

"I am not going to vote under any circumstances to fund illegal conduct," said Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala. "It does not make any difference whether the funding is for three weeks, three months or a full fiscal year. If it's illegal, it's illegal."

What is it with Republicans in Congress? They win majority, they say no to immigration, yet refuse to use their power as legislative branch to act on their promises. Instead, surrender is the first line of response from Republican leadership. Pathetic.

Instead, Congress should shut down Obama and DHS until illegal amnesty stops. Otherwise, be honest and say they support it.

When democrats have the majority they push republicans around like town bullies beating on 97 pound weaklings.

When republicans have the majority democrats push them around like town bullies beating on 97 pound weaklings.

You can be certain that in any dust-up republicans will let democrats beat them like a rented mule.

The DC republicans remind me of brave Sir Robin for Monty Python. “When danger reared its ugly head, Sir Robin bravely turned tail and fled”

Well, it’s crystal clear that any solutions to America’s problems are not going to come from Washington.

Voting doesn’t matter, elections don’t matter, parties don’t matter, contacting your reps doesn’t matter.

Either the citizens will solve this, or there will be no solution to this.

That is all.

“short-term” = Another stop-gap, half-measure, Rhode Island Red compromise but here, where our champions hold the cards

The GOP critters have a lot of dexterity with this kind of squeamish passing-the-buck to their future selves, e.g. immigration; the budget/`sequester’; dealing with an executive branch running amok while usurping their legislative prerogatives, stealing their checkbook, taunting them 2/7, etc.

GOP-e: “On the one hand, and on the other ... harrumph, harrumph—we have to remain firm, but flexible. Let’s not be hasty: let’s go to lunch, stop off at the bordello since the Entwives are out of town. And then we’ll return to the House of Representin’ and attempt to determine if Merry and Pippin really are `Hobbits’ .... hey! I didn’t get a harrumph out of that guy.”

I can’t shake the feeling that voter anger is simmering just below the surface.

It won’t take much to set off this powderkeg. Another 9/11 — or worse — would set the country on fire. God save us all.

It is obvious that the GOPe does not care about the Constitution. My only guess is they are bought and paid for. ,

Dems own the MEDIA ...and at least half of the population believes the propaganda of the Media....

It is not a FAIR battle....

And the Dems are taking the next step to control the propaganda streams with the FCC actions to regulate the Internet.

The FCC decision opened the door. The assault on free speech is underway — and will be officially sanctioned.
