I'd say that the correct position is to not impose highly questionable beliefs on anyone.
Someone here had a great idea re florists and bakers: they should state an across-the-board policy of not providing their services for marriage celebrations but only for celebrations of holy matrimony, which is strictly a religious concept.
But the promise of religious freedom is?
They really don’t hear their own words. To them, equality is only possible by trampling on your religious liberties.
Apparently, liberty means that unless I do something you tell me to do, that I don’t agree with, it’s ok for me to lose my business, everything I own and who knows, probably go to jail at some point.
And the example given is a NONPROFIT not PAYING contraceptive coverage. Nobody is being denied the ability to purchase contraception.
It’s basically obvious, because they’re not religious they don’t care about religious liberty. They only care about the LGBT crowd, if it means their rights trample on religious rights - it’s ok with them.
No bias here, I see.
Whatever happened to the proprietor/operator has the right to refuse service to anyone?
But what you’ve said is even wrong! Hobby Lobby didn’t say they wouldn’t pay for contraception—just aborticants!!!
There were only six drugs out of scores that they felt they could not be compelled to provide. Each of those six kills unborn babies.
Sadly, everyone seems to get this wrong.
When the truth is known, almost everyone agrees with the SCOTUS decision.
Christians don’t have rights.
People can refuse to do business because people are rude to them. They ask them to leave.p
People can refuse to do business with people who won’t abide by the business’ rules while on the premises.
People can refuse to do business with them if they aren’t wearing certain clothing in the business. Dress codes.
People can refuse to do business with those that can’t afford them.
People refuse to do business with people if they are personally careless and get too drunk, or are a risk to others.
People can refuse business if they are not in store hours.
People can refuse business with others if they are verbally offensive to the business owner.
But people are slaves and have no choice but to do business with people who they believe are engaged in a perverted, sick, and disease-ridden lifestyle? I don’t think so.
A lie right off the bat, Hobby Lobby objected to providing abortion drugs (morning after pills).
And take it one step further. It would be illegal for a farm supply store in Texas to refuse to sell a truckload of ammonium nitrate to some stranger named Achmed. Yeah, I can see Just Us pulling that.
You are correct, but your response is in the weeds and misses my main point which was the lie that Hobby Lobby can force its religious beliefs on its employees.
