LONDON - In research that contradicts years of health advice, scientists said on Monday that babies at risk of developing a childhood peanut allergy can avoid it if they are given peanuts regularly during their first 11 months.

A search would have shown that this same news was posted yesterday, only from a different outlet.
I learned that concept in immunology class 40 years ago and exposure to dirt and common allergens was recommended to my mom by my doctor in the early 50s when I was a baby.
Old knowledge (common sense) comes around again.
I’d be surprised if that doesn’t work for most things — wheat, milk, meat, conservativism...
I typed “peanuts” in the search under “title” and it didn’t come up. Oh well.
“wheat, milk, meat, conservativism...”
Thanks for bringing the thread into context! lol
So, just give a jar of creamy peanut butter to new parents and instructions to begin giving the infant a small pea-sized taste of PB on the tongue once a week. Begin at 4 months of age. I wonder if that would really work?
Believe it or not, search doesn't always work.
:’)
They found that works with peanuts too. The allergist puts a very small amount underneath the tongue and overtime increases the amount.
“Search” might not always work, but reading does.
Search on “peanuts” shows this story as the 8th item.
I missed it the first time, I’m glad it came around again.
Ok then. Sorry to have irritated you so much.
Kids eating peanut butter! Wow! How revolutionary! Hoodathunkit!?
“... was recommended to my Mom”.
When I was a kid, my Mom used the old fashioned, brown liquid Lysol. By using the Lysol, I mean she used it a lot. She even poured a bit into the wash to disinfect the clothes. My younger brother was having a lot of colds and our pediatrician was asking about exposure etc. Mom said, “I don’t understand it. I wipe down his crib with Lysol, use it on the floors, walls, cabinets, door knobs (and on and on). The pediatrician said to only use it for floors and door knobs.. to create a more “germ” like home so he was exposed more. It worked. (although I will say the old fashioned Lysol was the go to during cold/flu season to keep others from getting it)
And it has been on all the MSM news for the last week. This story beat out news from Venezuela, Argentina, Europe, etc.

Thanks for posting this...some of us PARENTS don’t read every article, every day - and this is a big deal.
It certainly helps me a LOT MORE than other articles on this site.
Why so red, bob?
My mom asked the doctor about scrubbing everything to keep the germs away and he told her not to worry about anything other than normal cleaning. He said he used to worry about his young kids getting infections from dirty areas and objects until he came home one afternoon, heard a rattling in the garbage can, and found his 4-year old hiding from his brother playing hide and seek. After that, he stopped worrying.
