FRANKFORT A bill which would have banned transgender students from using school restrooms that dont correspond to their anatomical sex failed to receive enough votes to get out of the Senate Committee on Education Thursday.
Senate Bill 76, known as the Kentucky Student Privacy Act, sponsored by Sen. C. B. Embry Jr., R-Morgantown, would have required students to use restrooms, locker rooms and showers of the sex that they were born.
In addition, the bill would allow students to sue the school for $2,500 if they encounter a person of the opposite biological sex in the bathroom or locker room if staff allowed it or did not prohibit it.
The bill would allow transgender students to ask for special accommodations, such as a unisex or faculty bathroom.
Henry Brousseau, a Collegiate Academy junior transgender student who was born female, spoke in opposition of the bill and told the committee that the bill will make life more difficult for transgender students throughout the commonwealth.
Nearly 9 in 10 trans kids are bullied at school and more than half of us have been physically assaulted, Brousseau said. Too often this happens in bathrooms when we are forced to use a bathroom that doesnt match our gender identity.

“Transgender” is a psychiatric disorder, the fact it isn’t treated as such is negligence.
The doctor that even pioneered “sex change” surgery stopped performing them because he saw them as being too harmful to the person, often leading to suicide.
the bill should have passed easily in a sane world, of course it would be unnecessary in a sane world
the fact they even need a bill for this is instructive ... and then they can’t pass it? The stupidity continues
suicide is a very common result of cutting people up that way
True, but we no longer have a sane world.
the queers won
Get your children out of the government indoctrination centers - NOW!
Badly put. A sensible law for the same purpose would simply specify that all public facilities which for the sake of modesty are separated into male and female facilities are separated on the basis of observable primary sexual characteristics, not gender.
Tough luck.
Use the bathroom that fits your equipment identity.
I’m in MA and I always figured Kentucky had more sense.
Guess I was wrong.
Sad.

“Too often this happens in bathrooms when we are forced to use a bathroom that doesnt match our gender identity.”
And I’m sure that males who know that a girl is masquerading as a guy and coming into their bathrooms will leave her alone. Right. Good luck with that.
For some reason, there just aren’t ladies pretending to be guys and wanting to use the guy’s rest rooms. It’s always guys desiring to be women. I think if we just went back to the old ‘out-house’ scheme (a multi-sex toilet)...it’d probably stop all this discussion, and folks wouldn’t worry so much about their bathroom business.
Might as well use chamber pots. Those are certainly uni-sex.
I know the one I used was frequented by men...I'm sorry, men, but your pee is a lot stronger smelling then womens....it creeped me out...
a country which can’t even figure out how to go to the toilet
pray for America
And this is Kentucky not California!!
What if I'm a teacher, but I think of myself as a 15 year old boy - is it all right if I hit on the female students? If I think of myself of being a different sex than I was born, why is my physical age a barrier when I think of myself as a youngster?
We're kind'a runnin' out of nouns ... y'know ?
Obama says we have 57 sexes.
so we need 57 bathrooms, right?
what’s so d***ed hard about that?
