Catherine Herridge is reporting that in May of 2014 there was very specific intelligence right down to the locations of the buildings in the cities where hostages were being held, most together. She additionally said it was the last and best chance to free them. Obama denied the rescue, under the premise more Intel needed to be developed. They waited seven weeks and by that time, the rescue had been compromised and the hostages dispersed to other locations.
