The Obama administration earlier this year turned down a request from Jordan for Predator spy drones that would help it locate targets in the war against the Islamic State.
The refusal, disclosed by a House Armed Services Committee, member, is gaining importance today since Jordan has emerged as a critical player in a U.S.-led coalition to destroy the terror group.
On Tuesday, the Islamic State released a video of its execution by fire of a capture Jordanian pilot. Jordan retaliated on Thursdaywith F-16 air strikes on the Syrian town of Raqqa and is vowing a relentless war against the Islamic State, also known as ISIL and ISIS.
Members of Congress are calling on the White House to approve a list of new weapons for King Abdullah, a strong U.S. ally.
Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican, on Thursday sent a letter to President Obama asking him to approve transfer of the Predator’s unarmed export version for surveillance missions.
“The decision to deny the license request should be reversed immediately,” Mr. Hunter wrote. “Doing so will provide Jordan critical mission capability in the fight against the Islamic State and ensure Jordan is given every advantage.”

There’s a surprise, Obama running interference on behalf of the Islamic Frankenstein’s monster he birthed.

Agreed, the Warthog would be a real killer against these “JV” ISIS killers and that’s why 0bambam will not approve them.
The issue with Predators, and any UAV, is that sensitivity of the encryption in their data linking.
All it takes is one Iranian spy in the right place inside the Jordanian military and the encryption gets compromised.
So I don’t have a problem with keeping Predators closely held assets. OTOH I would have a problem if the story was that the Administration had withheld targeting and other intel (like the feeds from our Predators) that would have supported Jordanian attacks.
All the crap that is going right now, is literally beyond belief. I wish this nightmare would end.
