Can Pennsylvania have a Selma-like moment this year for the LGBT community?

Gov. Tom Wolf stood with a small group of lawmakers Wednesday morning to rally new efforts behind bills that would extend basic anti-discrimination protections statewide on the basis of sexual orientation.

For Pennsylvania, a state where in most municipalities a person can still be fired from his job or denied housing because of his or her sexual orientation, Wolf said the extended anti-discrimination bills fit the state's heritage perfectly.

"Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn on the basis of tolerance. On the basis of religious freedom," Wolf noted.

U.S. District Judge John Jones gave the LGBT movement a push with his ruling overturning the state's same-sex marriage laws last year, Wolf noted, but the more basic protections are still sorely needed.

According to a fact sheet put out by the advocacy group Equality Pennsylvania, at present 32 percent of gay or lesbian adults in the state do enjoy those basic protections through local anti-discrimination ordinances.

But 68 percent of those residents do not have those protections, and that is a reality that has helped Pennsylvania receive the Human Rights Campaign's lowest ranking in its State Equality Index: "High Priority to Achieve Basic Equality."

Bend over and grab your ankles Pennsylvania, your about to get it up the old wazoo.

Great to see new Governor - DEMOCRAT Tom Wolf - isn't wasting any time on petty junk. One of his first acts was to nominate a woman who was born a man as physician general.

I've included a helpful picture of what that nominee may look like.

FWIW Dr Levine is awaiting confirmation by the Pennsylvania Senate.

People like that being fire-hosed and attacked by German Shepherds? You could sell tickets to that.

You really should give a warning, man! Now I have to get a new clock, behind me.

That pic flashed on the screen, and the minute hand spun at about 2400 rpm, for 5 seconds, the hour hand did three laps backward, froze, quivering and the crystal cracked right across...

This is courtesy of those on the right that refused to vote for Tom Corbett and campaigned relentlessly against him.

Corbett wasn’t the perfect conservative, but he was light-years better than Wolf. Pennsylvania is a goner.

I pray that the people of Pennsylvania repent from their obsession with their genitals. Democrats are agents of Satan, with too many low-information citizens obsessed with freebies from the government, who turn a blind eye to the evil they support by voting for Democrats.

I hope that the good people of Pennsylvania wake up before it is too late.

Men and women are NOT interchangeable. Stop teaching that in schools! Stop teaching that risky deviant sexual behavior is normal and a civil right! Get rid of corrupt lawyers in black robes!

Most of us are good conservative people in Pennsylvania. Just look at an electoral map. The problem is just like every other state, we are outnumbered by liberal voting cities. Philly, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg etc.

Higher taxes, more business killing regulations, more socialism. He;ll follow closely what Cuomo, DeBlasio and Moonbeam Brown get away with then do the same here.

May I correct a bit?

Pittsburgh isn't "liberal." Most Pittsburghers are quite conservative.

But they are Democrats. They still believe that "Democrats are for the workin' man, Republicans are for the rich." And they mindlessly vote that way.

It's wrong, dead wrong, but you can't change them.
