Boehner defectors not returning to Rules panel, aides say

After publicly defying Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Florida GOP Reps. Daniel Webster and Richard Nugent won’t be getting their seats back on the Rules Committee, The Hill has learned.

Boehner and his allies booted the pair of congressmen from the influential Rules panel on Jan. 6, just hours after they joined a failed bid by 25 conservatives to oust the leader from his post.

In the wake of the vote on the House floor, the Speaker said the GOP conference would be having a “family conversation” about whether to further punish his conservative foes. Boehner left the door open to the possibility that Webster and Nugent could be reinstated to the Rules Committee, which controls how bills come to the floor and is unofficially known as the “Speaker’s committee” because the Speaker picks its members. But leadership aides said Wednesday that the “door had shut” on the pair of congressmen.

“The chance of them being put back on Rules is slim to none,” said a GOP leadership aide familiar with discussions about Webster and Nugent.

No decisions have been made yet as to who will fill the two vacancies on Rules.

Webster, the former Florida state House Speaker and Senate president, received a dozen votes from his GOP colleagues for Speaker of the U.S. House. He was the less likely of the two to return to Rules since he directly took on the sitting Speaker, aides said, though he was named Tuesday to a third Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee, this one dealing with highways.

But Nugent did himself no favors after the vote when he blasted Boehner’s leadership in a newsletter to constituents.

Boehner and his GOPe RINO “allies” are despicable. I’ve reached the point where for certain strategic RINO held seats we need to run a conservative third party to drain base votes from them and either (unlikely) have the conservative candidate win or allow the ‘RAT candidate to win only to be defeated by a more conservative Republican challenger two years hence.

And, by “conservative third party” I do NOT mean a libertarian party candidate.

The House and the Senate need to initiate a party lottery to fill committee positions thus removing the thuggish retaliatory leadership out of the committee appointment equation all together.

So we have a constitutional system of voting that is totally rigged by being punished if you vote the wrong way. Then why have a system of voting at all? Why not just have one vote, and that Vote is the vote of John Boehner. That is effectively what we have now.

This is Extortion and corruption of the entire political process. It is Gangster politics. It should be highly illegal.
Now when Perry makes a threat then he winds up in court. But when Boehner effectively does the same thing then it is just part of the process.

Someone should bring charges against the speaker.

That’s not a fair comparison. Before he was a traitor, Benedict Arnold was a war hero.

If only Boehner employed a tiny fraction of his aggression against democrats as he does against republicans it would make a huge difference, I am thoroughly sickened by his Rino love for progressive liberal democrat communists and his hate for conservatives.

Apparently Boner can only grow a pair when when confronting Conservatives, it seems the mere sight of a liberal results in his castration.

This could be a chance to show GOPe how big the conservative movement really is. If we could get the word out to conservatives to call their congress critters, boehner’s office, sponsor protests etc on removing these guys from their post, it could be an eye-opener.

Granted it wouldn’t be easy, I don’t even know who normally organizes this kind of thing but we’ll never win waiting until the last minute on issues then challenging them (Obamacare). I for one will be calling, hope there are others.

Hopefully Dems continue to believe voting with the conservative minority in the House GOP to block Boehner is a bad for the 2016 prospects of the GOP.

The GOPE said they needed to fund the government till September. But what happens if conservatives and liberals block funding after then. Wouldn’t a shutdown be worse in September help Clinton the most in the theories of the GOPE?
