LOS ANGELES (AP) — California Attorney General Kamala Harris will seek a U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Barbara Boxer, an adviser with knowledge of her plans said Monday.
With her Tuesday announcement, Harris, 50, will become the first prominent California Democrat to enter the 2016 race that is expected to lure a crowded field.
The adviser was not authorized to discuss Harris's plans and spoke only on the condition of anonymity.
The disclosure came shortly after a potential rival, California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, said he won't run for the open seat created by Boxer's retirement next year.
Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and billionaire Tom Steyer are also considering bids for the seat, which Boxer has held for over two decades. [snip]

I didn’t see this one coming, but it makes sense. Harris is probably the strongest candidate the Democrats can put out there for the CA Senate seat.
It’s also probably a potential launching pad for an eventual run for the Presidency. Harris has boatloads of ambition, and all the “right” leftwing viewpoints.
Does she have $100 million dollars in her purse just to start?

Make no mistake she’s the odds on favorite to win that seat. Harris has national ambitions. She’ll be a presidential candidate by 2024 at the least.

The Democrats have been basically keeping the seat warm for her. I’m sure the Republicans will run another “exciting” RINO-type candidate to lose by 20 points.
