Cruz/Palin or vice versa. Now that's a Republican ticket I could vote for.

Amen to that!

I'll vote for Ted.
I'd vote for Sarah, if she ran -- but she won't.

Other than that, I've pretty much written the GOP off. It's not a Conservative party if it has only two Conservatives in it.

I have only one problem with Ted Cruz as a candidate for President of the United States. Per Wikipedia,Cruz was born on December 22, 1970[6][9] in Calgary, Alberta, Canada[6][16] where his parents, Eleanor Elizabeth Darragh Wilson[16][17][18][19][20][21] and Rafael Bienvenido Cruz,[19][20] were working in the oil business.[22][23] His parents owned a seismic-data processing firm for oil drillers.[19][24] Cruz’s father, who was born in 1939 in Matanzas, Cuba. Unfortunately he is constitutionally unqualified to be President, as he’s not a natural born citizen as is required.(Ref: Article II, Section 1, U. S. Constitution...
(... “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”)
Obama notwithstanding, I just can’t vote for Ted Cruz. To do so is illegal per the Constitution. That really sucks, because I agree more with what he has to say than any other so-called conservative, certainly more than any second rate candidates the Republican party has fielded. Solution: change the constitution so I can vote for him.

I'm agnostic on the Natural Born Citizen issue with respect to Ted Cruz. Since he's a Republican, I'm sure his eligibility as a Presidential candidate will be hotly contested in Federal Court by some factions.

I don't know enough about the minutae of the legal arguments to say definitively whether Cruz should be eligible or not.

I've definitely heard both alternative conclusions asserted as fact.

Pel, MLK is firmly ensconced in the American Pantheon, and no amount of factual material is going to dislodge him. The people who martyred him took care of that.

Think of the Founder of The Church of Latter Day Saints, Joseph Smith, when he was found drinking, blaspheming, smoking cigars, having coffee with loose gentile women, and just generally carrying on, contrary to the rules he set up for the rest of his church. He said, "Boys, I am a Prophet. I ain't no saint." He was martyred by a lynch mob and his church became stronger than ever.

The martyred MLK certainly earned the same status. I cannot help thinking that he would be a great help in averting the racial disaster that Team Obama is maliciously brewing in this country right now.

All I’m looking for now is someone on the right who has a very good chance of beating out the leftist candidate in the 2016 presidential election. I’m ruling out Romney, Bush,
Santorum, Huckabee, and Paul to accomplish that job. All nice guys but I just don’t think they’d win the big one. Maybe Cruz is the man to do bring it home.

Unless he’s found in bed with a dead hooker or a live boy, I’m in Ted’s corner. Oh, what am I saying? I’d be in his corner even then.

If it's a communist found like that, it's an improvement to their resume.

I think you are right. I’ve floated Walker’s name, but Cruz is the one guy who has been consistent. We’d best congeal around one guy well in advance and avoid the ThompsonHunterTancredoEtc fights that divide the field. Who else is openly, fearlessly saying the things Cruz is saying, daring to call a spade a spade, barbecuing the Left’s sacred cows on the altar of truth?

Where do you think George Romney (Mitt’s daddy who run for president) was born? He was born in Mexico. That never stopped him from running for president. Ted Cruz IS a natural born citizen on account of his mother being a natural born citizen. The constitution is clear on that.

I fully support Cruz in his battle to the bitter end; at this point many if not most will also, but the conservative movement has a major flaw, if Cruz makes one major mistake or a few small insignificant ones, conservatives will not just criticize they will assault him, cut him up like a hot knife through butter.

The MLK reference in this thread is an example; in the grand scheme of politics this is nothing, but if he references it again and he will, he will become a target to be fired at from within, conservatives have a nasty reputation for shooting their wounded BAM right in the head, the Rino’s know it and take advantage of it, as witnessed in the 2012 campaign when candidates were ripped apart from within; right here on FR until the last man standing was a Rino.

In a race for POTUS Cruz will suffer many wounds from every quarter some of those attacks will have a sliver of truth twisted and shaped to fit, which is necessary if it is going to be effective, if conservatives will not stand with Cruz through these attacks we will never win, never see the restoration of our Free Republic.

I just can’t vote for Ted Cruz. To do so is illegal per the Constitution.

All natural born means is that he was a US citizen AT BIRTH and did not naturalize.

There are two methods:

1) (Jus Soli) The Law of Place, which means you were born in the US or its territories.

2) (Jus Sanguines) The Law of Blood, Which means you derived citizenship through one or more of your US citizen parents.

At the time of his birth Cruz derived citizenship through his US citizen mother who had met all the residency requirements to pass citizenship to him.

I wonder why the sundry Hispanic activist groups aren’t tripping over each other’s heels to support him?

Or, in a Cruz/West ticket, the NAACP, & al.

Just think about it: The first Latino POTUS, and the first Negro VP. Conservatives all. What could go wrong?

Cruz's Mother was born in Delaware. According to the CATO institute, Cruz was an American citizen at birth, because he had an American parent who had lived in the US for a sufficient amount of time:

CATO Institute: Yes, Ted Cruz Can Be President

Ted Cruz is a natural born citizen. He did not go through any naturalization process, and is therefore eminently eligible to be President.

Your reply to my post did not address the American citizenship of Cruz's mother.

Thus, it appears that you are mistaken in your assertion of Cruz's ineligibility to serve as President.

Simple:

The sundry Hispanic activist groups, like the sundry black activist groups and the sundry female activist groups, are fundamentally marxist activist groups. Ted Cruz, Allen West, and Sarah Palin (for some examples) aren't marxists ... therefore the identity activist groups ignore them.

For the same reason that most blacks didn't support Justice Clarence Thomas.
