Not the attitude we want to see from our local government employees, but an ‘in your face, I’m a warrior’, attitude that I did notice showing up in my police catalogs of the 1990s.
That shirt lies.
Saving my ass is NOT the job of the police.
He’s dead wrong.
He’s a public servant, not a public master. He clearly doesn’t know that ... or refuses to accept it.
His job is to arrest criminals and write reports.
Saving my ass is MY job, first and foremost. Anyone who would interfere with my ability to do that ... particularly gun-grabbing politicians and the police officers who attempt to enforce their evil gun-control schemes ... is my enemy and the enemy of civilization.
I think that started when they won collective bargaining and started not being merely city employees, but partly running our cities, a situation where they started collecting money and fines to fund their pay and pensions, and became free of outside control and imposed limits.
Policing is one of those areas that needs constant monitoring, because it's natural state is to start getting out of control, and to start seeing themselves as society of powerful authority figures that are superior to the elected government over them, and to the people that they are supposed to be serving.
Everything you say absolutely supports my position that we must have the moral fortitude to make police an arm of support to the people and that it is through our neglect that we allowed politicians to make them our problem solvers. The police are simply on the leash of the politician not the citizen. Just like Obama voters exist only because of the Santa Clause effect and the weak will of the guilt ridden left.
There’s also a worse ghetto culture filled with criminals and criminal enablers always looking for someone else to blame for the messes their lives are in.
If you want to know why criminal mike brown, who deserved to get shot, became an excuse to riot, rob, burn and loot, look there.
