Do you seriously think that I’m the only voter in Kalifornia that is watching closely the way our conservative congressman are behaving?
Go to his website, he knows why he’s there.

I’m sure I’m not the only one ready to hold him accountable.

Luck has NOTHING to do with it.

Tom was always honest and his supporters knew this by the way he spoke and voted.

This is something completely against his oath and personal beliefs. There is a problem here that he MUST explain to us that have contributed time, money, and trust in his political endeavor, otherwise he is never going to get the backing he once had.

Maybe I’m being naive, but I always believed he was one of the GOOD guys. Now I’m not so sure.

what the heck are our Texas delegation thinking? All of them except for one (not counting Louie) are a sell out for the get along crowd.

Kenny Marchant really flipped my noodle (I didn't see his name on the list of those who voted against Boehner). He's been as straight as an arrow up to this point.

What we've witnessed only adds weight to my working theory, which is, we're now past the point of a political solution in this country. The civil systems set up by the Framers have been so badly subverted and compromised, that even an historic election can't change the dynamic in Washington.

It's going to take a whole new kind of activism to wrest our country back from the ruling class cabal.

Her’s McClintock’s explanation from his website:

Statement by Congressman Tom McClintock On the Election of the House Speaker

Statement by Congressman Tom McClintock
On the Election of the House Speaker

January 6, 2014

I am disappointed in Mr. Boehner’s leadership of the House and have expressed my concerns on many occasions. But shifting this decision from the House Republican Conference to the House Floor opens a Pandora’s Box.

The election of the House Speaker is a decision that is made by the House majority caucus. That decision is then enacted through a formal vote on the House floor by the unanimous action of that majority.

The Republican majority voted at its November meeting to re-elect John Boehner as Speaker after no member stepped forward to challenge him. Some have suggested now shifting that decision from the House Republican Conference to the House floor, where 29 Republicans can combine with Democrats to thwart it.

Conservatives should beware. On its worst day, the collective judgment of the Republican majority is much more conservative than that of the overall House membership. Shattering Republican unity in the election of Speaker is not likely to end with a more conservative alternative, but rather with a coalition of the most liberal House Republicans and House Democrats.

This happened in the California Assembly in 1994. Dissident Republicans broke with the Republican majority on the vote for Speaker, enlisting the votes of minority Democrats in exchange for a wholesale transfer of power. Though voters had elected a Republican majority, this coalition effectively gave Democrats control of the Assembly.

The proper place to contest a Republican speaker is in the House Republican Conference. At any meeting, a member may put a no-confidence motion to the conference and, if adopted, set the stage for a House vote to vacate the office and elect a successor. However, this requires every member of the Conference to respect the collective decision – a long-enduring precedent that would be destroyed by the proposed strategy. I cannot support it.

“Let the retaliation begin!!!”

ok. How?

IMO, there’s only one solution. The same one the Founding Fathers used when they had no representation.

I’m changing right now.

Should I be an independent or ‘other’?

It depends.
I’m now unaffiliated. In some states there may be politcal parties with the name of independent.

As I understand it, Gowdy did not vote because he couldn’t get to Washington because of bad weather.

I read (sorry, no link) that Trey said he’d vote for Boehner if he were there.

Yeah, that was what I finally figured out. In Mexifornia, there is an American Independent Party on the ballot. “Other” would then be what some states call independent or as you said, unaffiliated.

I didn’t want to use ‘independent’ since I see all those in congress that are independent are liberals. I’m not sure what the distinction is when they are in office vs. us voters.

28 members in total, from both parties, voted against either Boehner or Pelosi (shown as ‘others’ on C-SPAN). 24 were Republicans voting against Boehner. 1 (Babin) was a Republican voting ‘present’. The 3 others were Democrats voting against Pelosi.

“..we’re now past the point of a political solution in this country.”

I cannot agree more with this statement. Oh, give it one more election everyone says, it will be different next time. This has been one of my older sister’s and my biggest arguments. She says elections are there to fix these problems. I say DC is way too broke to fix. Corruption too deep. She called me screaming yesterday afternoon after Boehner won and all I could say, told ya.

We need a BIG shake-up in DC and not something that comes every 2, 4, or 6 years. My writing letters, phoning and faxing days are over. Time to move it up a notch or two.

Gowdy is a sell out. From day one this guy has been nothing but a chest thumping media hound.

I have said it on here and been chastised by some of the FReeper crowd but I have been vindicated today.

Hey, what has happened to Gowdy’s special committee?

Crickets, crickets and more crickets. He did not want to lose that one now did he? He would not have near the chance to go on FOXCNNMSNBCABCBS everyday and thump his chest and make his whimsical remarks.

You might find my recent postings on this subject pointing out that Beohner is well versed at political warfare.

Our issue is that he practices it directed at attaining and maintaining his position, not necessarily at attaining conservative goals.

With the possible except, in our lifetime, of Newt, damn few Speakers have been the best, smartest, most patriotic or honorable House members. Our conservative thinking they should be is and will likely remain a rarely attainable dream.

Gohmert nor any of the other contenders entertained thoughts they themselves might unseat Boehner directly, instead either create fissures where he fell inside the process or more simply a shot across the bow to force him to acknowledge the grass root strength in his running the House. We will now have to wait and see if the latter may have been attained.
