ROGERS, Ark. – The garbage cans are becoming morbidly obese at Rogers High School.
“We’re feeding trash cans a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables,” Robin Kinder, president of the Arkansas School Nutrition Association and assistant child nutrition director for Springdale Public Schools, tells NWAonline.com.
In addition to changing the lunch menu to make it “healthier,” the school sends students back into the line if they fail to take the required fruits and vegetables mandated by the overhaul of the National School Lunch Program.
“It would just go straight to the trash sometimes,” Estefany Corleto, a junior at Rogers High School, says of the foods students are required to take. “I think it was just a waste of food.”
The paper reports after the new regulations took effect, school leaders “could hear a steady ‘thump’ as the students discarded the food in the trash cans just outside the doors to the serving area.”

At the school district I just retired from, Moochelle's food rules were not well received.
A 200lb football player and 90lb cheerleader got the same lunch portion, and NO seconds.

What technically, exactly is a “rule” from Michelle Obama? They should just announce it will not be followed and start serving Pizza and French Fries like always.
In the last two decades, the most successful revolts have been people simply deciding not to comply. No AR15 needed, just a F-U and go on with life. And doing so in large numbers.
When we get to tell the govetnment what to eat it will be fair. And if they are selling us down the river like they are doing now...they only get craap sandwiches.
Following Food Nazi rules is a condition of receiving federal taxpayer dollars, which is a fallacy itself. The central govt. should have no role in education, an unconstitutional function it has arrogated to itself.
Mrs. O was not elected. Nobody needs to pay attention to anything she says or does.
When is someone with cajones gonna confront The Mooch in a public forum and ask: “How can you tell Americans what to eat when you’re dragging around behind you that massive, fat @$$!!?”

I hope conservatives are taking advantage of this discontent and using it to recruit young people into groups like Young Americans for Freedom, Teenage Republicans, Young Republicans, etc.
I’m ten years into my “career” at an urban high school. It’s not pretty, and I’m constantly reminding the students that it’s Mrs. Obama’s idea. Tack on NCLB, RTtT, and Ohio’s new teacher evaluation system, and I’m pretty much tapped out.
Well, Mooch thinks she can sign legislation so maybe they’ll be force feeding our kids soon.
I consider myself very fortunate to live in Rogers, Arkansas. We have some excellent CHARTER schools in this area. My granddaughter attends one of the religious private schools here. One of her classmates is the son of the head volleyball coach at one of our PUBLIC high schools here.
The three inch letters “FUBO” on reflective background reside on my back window of my truck. They cost about $.65 each at Home Depot.
