Threats to New York Police Stream In After Fatal Shootings, Putting Department on Edge

In the days since two New York City police officers were fatally shot in their car by a man who forecast his intentions online, threats of other attacks on the police have streamed in from 311, 911 and online postings. Investigators have scrambled to separate serious warnings from disturbing pranks.

On Wednesday, heavily armed officers stood guard outside a pair of precinct station houses in Brooklyn that were the targets of specific violent threats. Officials felt enough concern that the Fire Department moved an entire engine company from its base adjacent to one of the station houses.

John J. Miller, the deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism, said: “Some of these are angry people who call and rant; some are ill-advised Internet pranks or drunks who are texting, and those wash out fairly quickly. There are a handful that are of concern, and those are the cases where we devote the time and resources.”

Of the four people arrested, two were teenagers in Brooklyn. Each teenager was charged with a felony for making a “terroristic” threat in messages posted on Facebook. One, Devon Coley, 18, was arrested Monday and released on his own recognizance pending a court date; the other, Yasin Shearin, 16, is being held on $50,000 bail.

Brilliant! Why not rent a big billboard in Times Square and post the threat there?

Why doesn't the entire police force take a week off and then see how the public likes it. No protection for DeCrazyio, his son or his family, no protection for anything—including businesses and Wall Street. That would save the city a lot of money. Then let us see what the city thinks of the police force, Bratton, and DeCrazyio.

New York City will not be safe until Mayor Bill De Blasio resigns......and he will resign... .no matter how much the Obama media will try to save him. In a short amount of time after the two murdered police officers are laid to rest....the NYC Police, Fire Department, First Responders, Sanitation Workers will demand that De Blasio be thrown out of office. They will be joined by hundreds of thousands of uniformed public servants across the entire country.

If De Blasio has any brains at all, he will quietly resign and crawl back under the left-wing, progressive, Democrat rock he came out from under, along with Obama, Holder, Sharpton, the CBc, the NAACP, the Democrat Party!!!

Yesterday, my wife drove up to a couple of patrol cars sitting in our church parking lot just to thank them and let them know that they have our support. As she approached, one of the cars backed up quickly to avoid her and the other officer was very edgy and suspicious until they realized that everything was OK. They explained that they have to be very cautious now, but thanked her for her words of support.

We live in Colorado, and obviously even our police officers are jumpy because of what is happening. This is so absurd. Sharpton, Jackson, and all of the "protesters" who looted, burned, or incited riots should be in prison, end of story. They are spreading a vicious lie and compromising the ability of police to do their jobs as a result.

It’s crazy when people are assuming thugs are always innocent and cops are always corrupt and trigger-happy. All of these agitators have nothing better to do. They are professional disruptors and I’m sure our tax money goes to support them.
