Christian activist calls out Walmart’s ‘increasing capitulation’ to gay agenda

A prominent Christian activist is sounding the alarm about what he sees as Walmart’s “increasing capitulation” to the homosexual agenda, and calling on concerned citizens to contact the corporation to complain.

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH), alleged in a press release that Walmart is “going gay” in response to increasing public pressure from homosexual activists, donating thousands of dollars to pro-gay political groups and extending benefits to its employees’ same-sex “domestic partners.”

LaBarbera particularly objected to a grant of between $25,000 and $50,000 that the company gave to the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund – a group that funds openly homosexual candidates for political office – and accused Walmart of turning its back on traditional values to pander to a vocal minority of homosexual activists.

“Giving corporate dollars to ‘gay/trans’ groups like GLVF helps Walmart increase its score on the rigged ‘Corporate Equality Index’ (CEI) put out annually by the homosexual group Human Rights Campaign,” LaBarbera explained. “Walmart's pro-homosexual/-transgender CEI score is now 90 percent–up from 40 percent in 2008.”

“The CEI scoring system is completely biased against social conservatives: if Walmart were to give a grant to a pro-family group like AFTAH that opposes homosexual ‘marriage’ and male ‘transgenders’ using female restrooms, it would lose 25 points according to HRC's rigged CEI scoring system,” said LaBarbera. He noted that the only thing preventing Walmart from achieving a perfect 100 on HRC’s list is the fact that it does not yet provide sex-change procedures as part of its health plan.

“During the Christmas season, we should focus on honoring God and His Son, Jesus, who came to earth to die for our sins,” LaBarbera said. "Walmart has done much good in the world—but celebrating politically correct sins—homosexuality and transsexuality—only dishonors God and incentivizes Walmart's own workers to embrace immoral and confused behavior patterns in their lives.”

"Walmart needs to get out of the sin promotion business and at least return to neutrality on the homosexual/transgender issue," LaBarbera added. He urged people to call Walmart's corporate offices or use their online contact page to “politely express your concerns about Walmart ‘going gay’ and turning its back on godly morality and traditional marriage.”

Walmart is pandering to an insignificant number of militant homosexualists who have probably never set foot in one of their stores.

My family does not shop at Wal Mart. I used to get all sorts of crap from FReepers who were in love with “Cheap Crap from China, ALWAYS!” and I wonder if they’ll change their tune now that they’re not just supporting the People’s Liberation Army but the Gay Agenda, too.

Or are the deals just so good that they have to sell their birthright to save thirty pieces of silver?

It works both ways. Homosexuals can pressure Walmart to support their agenda and Walmart customers who don’t agree with that agenda and shop elsewhere.

Walmart will do what’s best for Walmart in the long run.

I wouldn’t call it the “gay agenda”, for many reasons,

chiefly, because it is simply an anti-Christian agenda,
the homosexual part of the agenda is incidental.

I have tried and tried to wean my tribe off their obsessive loyalty with WallyWorld.

I have given up.

This is what Khrushchev meant when he said, "When we hang the capitalists they will sell us the rope we use."

Anyone who thinks that these grants will create friendships with the extremist Left, or that they can be bought off to leave companies like Walmart alone is in serious denial. These people will turn on Walmart and destroy them at the first opportunity.

I used to buy ammo there back when they had good stock and good prices, but their supply of ammo is pathetic now so I haven't been in a Walmart in over five years.

Come on, Wal-Mart.....seriously? You were founded on family values and tradition. Why turn your backs on truth that you KNOW deserves trumpeting?!

Walmart also sponsored Al Sharpton’s recent birthday party where over a million bucks was raised for some phony foundation run by that pompadoured dirtbag. The number of large companies that give him tons of money is mind boggling.

Well said. I get a a real kick out of people who feel that insulting Walmart is like insulting the US flag or the US Constitution. Sure Walmart is a business and we conservatives are supposed to be pro-business, but Walmart should not be thought of as an unimpeachable American institution that exists to solely to promote traditional American values.

It is a a global corporation and it’s number #1 concern is profits, not patriotism, not conservatism, nor even to “help” the American worker. Walmart exists to benefit Walmart. If a person can find cheap deals there, fine, shop there. Heck, I’ve been know to by household cleaners, toilet paper and the like there. I am not perfect.

But if you critique Walmart in the slightest you get called a communist around here. (Oh, the irony in that statement is rich).

Agreed. It’s not like I say everyone should boycott Wal Mart, not at all. I just say that my family will never shop there and then I say why.

I used to shop at Wal Mart but then someone on FR posted a story (and pictures) of Chinese troops executing teenagers who had protected China’s occupation of Tibet. It was graphic. This one girl about my age was dressed in a cute sweater and a couple pictures later her head had been blown off.

The only thing I could think was that >> I << had paid for the bullet that killed that girl.

Now I don’t shop at Wal Mart because most of what they sell is from China and when I shop elsewhere I don’t buy anything made in China...and that’s not easy but you can do it.

Hell, it is becoming almost impossible to find a retailer that does not pay protection money to the homos or buy most of their merchandise from China. I don't shop at Walmart because I just don't like the place or the people it attracts. If I do go to one, I am always armed. There was a shooting a couple of weeks ago at the one nearest my house. Two guys who apparently had no physical appearances or racial characteristics got into an argument which spilled out to the parking lot. The argument became a gunfight, and bullets were flying everywhere, including into the store (or "da stow", as it is usually referred to by the shoppers).

I don't need a new reason to avoid a store that sucks.

It agree that it is difficult, but if you look online there are quite a few places that sell American products, mostly high end items. Heck, even if the items are from Canada I don't mind, either. They're a little more costly, but that's what we have to do. I've gotten quite a lot of fine-quality clothing made in the US that lasts and I adore!

I once got a pool cleaner made in in the US. That thing was left outside in the worst conditions but lasted me almost ten years! When it broke, I foolishly got a Chinese-made one that broke halfway through the season. Never again.

I will happily shell out bucks for a decent product I know will work and last, rather than a cheaper item that is too costly to fix, and cheaper to replace (which so many MIC products are). I know buying American means sometimes supporting unions with agendas, but I'd rather support the American economy no matter what.
