A 23-year-old Victoria, Texas, police officer is under investigation after he used a taser on a 76-year-old man twice Thursday following a conversation about a vehicle inspection sticker, which unbeknown to the officer, the man was not even required to have on the vehicle because it belonged to a dealer.

Nathanial Robinson’s dash cam captured a portion of the confrontation, which started after he followed Pete Vasquez as he pulled into the car lot. Robinson can been seen walking up to the car, as Vasquez exits the vehicle. Robinson apparently questioned Vasquez about the vehicle’s lack of a valid inspection sticker, but Vasquez later told the Victoria Advocate, he tried to explain to Robinson that the car, because it was dealer-owned, was not required to have one.

Vasquez then attempted to walk away to get the car lot’s manager, at such time Robinson grabbed his arm and slammed him onto the hood of his patrol car, before placing the old man in a lock and wrestling him to the ground.

At least the police department didn’t stick up for the thug they have working for them. Hope he doesn’t get off and then go get hired at another city.

At the very least this a$$hat cop should be fired then brought up on charges. This is what passes for “police officers” these days? Waiting to hear from the boot lickers on this one.

No one should go direct from school to police work.hire only those that have had real life experience working in profit-making enterprises;same for all government employees.

That skinhead Rambo cop should be fired and charged with abuse and violence towards an elderly person, IMO.

The fat white guy with the beard saw what was going on and confronted the cop, who then promptly threatened him to (my guess from the body language).

It seems, the only one with any sense on the part of LE was the supervisor/other officer who arrived on scene later. At least he could recognize what this cretin did.

Notice the “THUG” music the officer is listening to. That is also an embarrasing thing about the video IMO.

The crap playing on his cop car radio sez it all about this a-hole.
Maybe he can find a new job in a gehto music store.

If I were the adult cop on scene, I’d have ordered the cop escorted to the nearest hospital for an illegal substance test.

I agree. I had to put the video on mute to watch it. I cannot abide listening to that crap.

Was gonna say pretty much the same...he seemed more concerned about getting Mr. Vasquez's side of the story and ascertaining whether or not he was injured as a result of the THUG's (anyone who listens to the garbage he was is nothing more than a THUG) actions.

Luckily for the cop I am not a member of the 76 year old’s family.

The country has descended into a police state. Police have license to kill. I’ll bet some readers will get angry if I say that some people go into police work because they will be able to legally use lethal force on a citizen?
Angry yet?

Never once from the body language I saw from Mr. V did I ever get the sense of a physical sense of danger or bodily concern for the officer (I use that term VERY loosely here).

Even a bystander called the cop out on his treatment of him and obviously felt threatened..

IMO, the supervisor was first doing damage control and recording of back up confirmation of on-site claims - then getting him to get EMTs on scene to document.. Very specific legally language, IMO.

The Rambo skinhead? Should never ever been considered for hiring.

True, I believe Mr. Velasquez “set” the thug off by not respecting (dissing) his “authority” when shown he was in error.

I agree that the interviewer/supervisor was more than likely attempting some damage control, but at the same time, his tone appears to sound concerned. Whether that means he’s “concerned” about the dept. or Mr. Velasquez, I don’t know, but at least he didn’t exacerbate/escalate the situation by dismissing Mr. Velasquez’s statements.

Agreed on the wannabe “rambo”...I suspect he was embarrassed by his error in pulling Mr. Velasquez over erroneously and his pride/ego got the better of him.

I suppose many leo’s don’t appreciate that sometimes the citizen may know the law better than they.

Agree. There wasn’t any reason to be so aggressively proactively preemptive.

That tack is born of a pervasive attitude within LE in general - albeit largely warranted because of the potential outcome, especially with some potential detainees. In this case, it takes only a few seconds to see this LEO shouldn’t carry a badge, or a gun.

My guess is ego, drugs and more drugs. The department should have screened better.
