The United States Congress has passed a bill which would impose sanctions on Venezuelan officials found to have violated protesters' rights.

The vote was passed by the House of Representatives and received similar approval by the Senate earlier this week.

The bill is now likely to be signed into law by President Barack Obama.

Venezuela's President Nicholas Maduro described the move as imposing "insolent imperialist sanctions".

I beleive the folks of this failing country would be better served if we would fly over and drop the billions we will spend to enforce these “sanctions,” at least some good may come from a drop......

"Oil exporters. that are big spenders, most heavily reliant on oil revenue and with the lowest capacity to make necessary policy adjustments would be most negatively affected," Moody's chief economist, Lucio Vinhas de Souza, wrote in the report. He cited Venezuela and Russia among the countries most vulnerable to lower oil prices. Mexico, he added, is expected to be more resilient, given the limited exposure to oil in its external accounts and its conservative budget policy

Are we going to stop importing oil from them?

Maduro continues the systematic destruction of Venezuela begun by his predecessor Chavez and supported by Cuba, Russia, and Iran.
