Nevada's top election official is giving the go-ahead to two initiatives for the 2016 ballot: One to allow recreational marijuana use, and the other to tighten background checks for anyone buying guns from private sellers and gun show exhibitors.

Guns BAD! Pot good. Dude! Looks like two sure fire pieces of crap that will go on the ballot since the next legislative session isn't likely to enact either one of them. I can almost hear the nannie bloomers caravan of cash laden trucks waiting at the state line. Sold to the signatories to the petitions as "stop the gun show loophole" and "to regulate and TAX weed". If even the ganette owned reno gazette journal thinks the gun control initiative is a waste of time, you KNOW it must be a POS. As for the weed, I guess none of the no/low voters will bother to look a colorado for reference. If you care to assist in defeating the bloomers backed initiative, here is a link:

Exactly how would this work? If a gun isn’t “registered” exactly how would Nevada know that a purchase even occurred?

According to the wording in the initiative, ALL gun sales are/will be required to pass through an FFL. If caught outside the guidelines, the first offense would be a misdemeanor and if you get caught a 2nd time it would be a felony. It would also make the FFL’s use NICS instead of the state system currently used. (I think I got that right!) Anyway, if you and a buddy are out in the desert doing some plinking, it would also be against the newly worded NRS for you to allow him/her to use your firearm. Sacntioned licensed ranges would be okay if I read it right. If your neighbor comes over you can show him your new weapon but you can’t let him touch it. Defining everything will be an onerous task as they are finding out in WA since the no/low info voters passed I-594. Of course it’s all to close the “gun show loophole” and to prevent domestic abuser from obtaining a firearm. No restrictions on bats or knives or fists or broken bottles etc., etc., etc. Yeah, that’ll work out just fine.

Draconian, for sure. I’m just wondering how they can verify all that if they don’t even know about the gun in the first place.

I’m not going to what I may or not have, but I do have a shotgun, Winchester Model 37 single shot, break open 30 gauge SteelBilt that has absolutely no serial number, they didn’t do that when they made it.

My point is that for Nevada to really enforce this, it will require registration. No question about it for me.
The next step after registration is confiscation.

We’re canceling our search for a home in Nevada. “...the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed ...”

I believe your absolutely right about the gun confiscation. They did it in N. Orleans, they did it when a gun owner died and the cops confiscated the guns. They do it when they storm a house (not the one on their warrant). Then we have the fat assed cop in Texas that want neighbors to spy on gun enthusiast in their neighborhood. And we are supposed to believe the cops and the government that they are not out to confiscate guns?
