Be not overcome with evil,
but overcome evil with good.

Heavenly Father,
The world wants us to forget about the Christ in Christmas. It wants us to remove the nativity scenes, the beautiful carols, and the true meaning of the celebration. And it wants us to become entangled in all the busyness that keeps us from focusing on the true reason for the celebration. But we are not of this world. We are of You, Lord God. Help us to remember our true identity is in You. Help us to not yield to the pressures to forget You. Help us not to conform to this world, but to renew our minds in You and in Your Word. Give us the strength and the desire to overcome evil with good in every opportunity we have.
Grant peace to our military men and women. Many will be apart from their families over Christmas, Father, and they need a special reminder of Your love for them. Send people to share the love of Christ with them no matter where they are. Keep them safe by night and day, Lord, and may they have supernatural wisdom as they carry out their duties.
Father, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem and set ourselves as watchmen on the walls. Hasten the day of our Saviors return, that the true and lasting peace You have for us may begin. O come, O come, Emmanuel. In the Name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!
GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE
"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod" William Billings Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia (Click)
IN THE COLDEST and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered his prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His Manifold Blessings upon the new Nation.

FROM THE BRAVE, albeit weary, ill-equipped, and untrained volunteers who marched into Valley Forge on 19 December 1777 arose, with the help of some gallant friends from across the waves, the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, global defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants.
AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high in that bleak Winter, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and gather them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

HEAVENLY FATHER, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these valiant men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your Loving Embrace, that You cause Your Countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Johnnys Race
When 19-year-old Johnny Agar finished the 5k race, he had a lot of people behind himfamily members and friends who were celebrating his accomplishment.
Johnny has cerebral palsy, which makes physical activity difficult. But he and his dad, Jeff, have teamed up to compete in many racesDad pushing and Johnny riding. But one day, Johnny wanted to finish by himself. Halfway through the race, his dad took him out of his cart, helped him to his walker, and assisted Johnny as he completed the race on his own two feet. That led to a major celebration as friends and family cheered his accomplishment. It made it easier for me to do it with them behind me, Johnny told a reporter. The encouragement is what drove me.
Isnt that what Christ-followers are meant to do? Hebrews 10:24 reminds us, Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds (niv). As we model the love of our Savior (John 13:34-35), imagine the difference it could make if we all set out to encourage each otherif we always knew that behind us we had a group of friends cheering us on. If we took the words comfort each other and edify one another (1 Thess. 5:11) seriously, the race would be easier for all of us.
Help us, Lord, not to think that we can go through
life without others. Cure us of our independent
spirit. Use us to bless others and humble
us to accept encouragement.
A word of encouragement can make the difference between giving up or going on.
The Holiest (Heb. 10:19) was a reference to the Holy of Holies in ancient Israels tabernacle and temple. It was viewed as the dwelling place of God among His people and could only be entered once a year, and then only by the high priest. On the Day of Atonement, the high priest would take the blood of the sacrifice into the Holy of Holies to atone for the peoples sins for another year. However, the work of our High Priest, Jesus, is so complete that we now have the freedom to enter into Gods presence at any time. In fact, we can enter boldly because as a result of Christs sacrifice we are welcomed into the Fathers presence. This intimate relationship we have with our Father causes us to want to share His grace with others.
