If they dared to do this, it wouldn’t be played as just outrage over Obama’s mocking of the Constitution.
They KNOW the media, fueled by SNL, the Daily Show, The View, and the sycophants at NBC/CBS/CNN/NPR/etc, would spin it as an example of “The RACIST HATRED of Republicans for the BLACK PRESIDENT, and Hispanics!”

Not quite true. Washington and Adams spoke to joint sessions of Congress.
Jefferson rejected this because he thought it too much like the King's speech from the throne to Parliament. Wilson went back to the earlier precedent.
The appalling spectacle of the SOTU in recent decades, not just under Obama, makes me think Jefferson had a point.
