I saw a video recently where they asked students on a college campus “Who won the civil war” and similar questions.

The % of people who will get the Vichy reference is sub-1%. We might as well be old rabbis exchanging scripture verses in the Warsaw Ghetto. Going extinct soon.

Are you on drugs?

The Republican House has the upper hand NOW, not in January.

Way to make excuses for your party.

Harry Reid still runs the Senate. He’ll run it until January. Totally sober over here. I can still read a calendar.

Speak for yourself. I taught my grandkids the greek alphabet this summer, and they get real history here.

And even the 5 year old knows to Google 'Vichy' if he doesn't understand it.

Defeatism sucks.

Speaking of funding, the House just passed a $585B defense bill.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/house-passes-dollar585b-defense-bill/ar-BBgloBQ

.....One of the most controversial aspects of the bill is its inclusion of a variety of public land and energy provisions, including designating new national parks and wilderness areas, speeding the permit process for oil and gas drilling, and measures related to energy and minerals.

(Sen Ted Cruz has this to say, about this bill...)

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) called the provisions an “extreme land grab” that would restrict more than half a million acres of land from productive use.

“With the military’s shrinking budget, it is offensive that this bill would be used to fund congressional pork,” Cruz said in a Wednesday statement.

The bill also reduces benefits for troops and their families. It would raise the copay by $3 for most pharmaceuticals under Tricare, the military health insurance plan.

It would also keep pay raises at 1 percent, freeze raises for general and flag officers, and reduce housing subsidies by 1 percent. The bill also cuts subsidies for military commissaries, where troops buy groceries, by $100 million.

Although the cuts did not go as far as the Pentagon and Senate Armed Services Committee wanted, they are a blow to military family advocates who had lobbied against any cuts.

So much for using our GOP “advantage”. They shouldn’t be funding anything, that 0bola wants.

Harry Reid requires that the Republican House pass legislation and funding. He can't do it without them.

Since Reid needs them, they have the upper hand.

Now. Not in January.

Take a poll on any college campus (the home of our future) and see how many can define “Vichy France.”

If it’s 0.5% I’d eat my hat.

“Who won the civil war”

Student: Is this a trick question?

“We might as well be old rabbis exchanging scripture verses in the Warsaw Ghetto. Going extinct soon.”

Along with honor, bravery, and patriotism.

Apparently, the GOP in D.C. has been bought off. If they weren’t for sale(a few), they were blackmailed.

And there is not a single appropriations bill that doesn’t start in the US House of Representatives which is controlled by Republicans.

Or at least that is what they claim when running for office or re-election.

Waiting for the GOP to do anything right is a long wait where a train don't come.

I don't trust liberal republicans any more than I trust democrats.

"The more the president talks about his ideas, the more unpopular he becomes. Why would I want to deprive him of that opportunity?"

The more Boehner acts on his complete lack of ideas, the more I want to deprive him of the opportunity.

there hasn’t been a budget passed in an 6 years. They’ll do the finance thing on CR’s. Reid SORT OF needs the House, but not really. We won’t shut the gov’t down, so we’ll cave for something.

In JANUARY the GOP can send Obama a pretty clean budget, choose not to fund the overrun of the US by Mexicans, and if he vetoes it, then the only way to characterize things is that Obama’s willing to shut down the government over making sure people who aren’t citizens get to spend taxpayer money on stuff many of us wishes we had.

He’s not going to veto it. The remaining D’s in the Senate will kill him, possibly literally. The lost on immigration, primarily, and Obamacare. By ‘mostly clean’ if you put in a repeal of the medical device tax its something else that everyone agrees is a good thing, and it guts Obamacare at the same time.

We won’t shut the gov’t down, so we’ll cave for something.

The reality is that the Republicans have the power, but they won't use it. That's the eternal story of the republicans. And why I won't vote Republican.

You guys are going to lose 2016 badly if you don't act with the power you have now.

“You guys are going to lose 2016 badly if you don’t act with the power you have now.”

Don’t look at me. I gave them one last shot, like everybody else that crossed the aisle and voted for them did in the midterm out of outrage and desperation.

They screw this up, everybody will conclude that the ballot box is out. They will start moving on to the next box. Mark my words.

Some conservatives were saying that republicans were liberal and predicting things like this.

Instead of outrage and desperation, how about voting on principle, instead?
