PHILADELPHIA, PA – DECEMBER 3, 2014 – In conjunction with the Philadelphia 76ers’ announcement today of their wide-ranging partnership with DraftKings, the team’s Official Daily Fantasy Game Partner, the Sixers and DraftKings have announced an Instagram contest for fans, with the grand prize of a trip for four to see the team play in New Orleans.

The Philadelphia 76ers today announced details for the official First-Day-of-Issue dedication ceremony for the Wilt Chamberlain Forever stamps. As the first NBA player to be immortalized on a stamp, the December 5 ceremony honoring the Sixers legend takes place when the Sixers host the Oklahoma City Thunder at 7:00 p.m.

"It is an honor to be a part of history as we dedicate this stamp and celebrate the great Wilt Chamberlain with his family, friends and teammates," said Sixers Chief Executive Officer Scott O’Neil. "That he is the first NBA player to be featured on a United States Postal Service stamp speaks to the untouchable legacy he left behind on the court, and we are proud to call him a Sixer."

Wilt Chamberlain stamps sales tip off when doors open for the game at 6:00 p.m. All fans attending the game will receive a commemorative poster featuring images of Chamberlain from his illustrious career as well as an image of the stamps. Fans may purchase the stamps inside the concourse and outside next to Wilt’s statue.

The halftime dedication ceremony will feature the use of the Sixers’ three-dimensional court projection system in a brand-new video. Chamberlain’s sisters Barbara Lewis and Selina Gross will also attend and take part in the ceremony, as will Sixers legends Julius "Dr. J" Erving and Wali Jones, Sixers advisor Sonny Hill and Sixers Director of Statistical Information Harvey "Super Stat" Pollack.

Throughout the night, the Sixers will showcase the Chamberlain’s immense contributions to the franchise and game through video tributes and other interactive features.

Wasn’t Wilt kind of a sleeze ball? Or am I just remembering his house?

If sleeping with more than 10 thousand women is a sleeze ball...then yes. :-)

The 7’1” long sheets each contain 10,000 stamps (or 20,000 depending on who you believe).

Mr. Mercat was in the LHS pep band when he was playing at KU and got to go to a lot of games. He says that when Wilt was coming in for a layup, that entire end of the field house pulled back. He also watched him bowl back when they still used pin boys. Wilt would bring the ball back and up so far it touched the ceiling. He would first though yell at the pin boys to get out of the way and then literally throw the ball the entire length of the lane.

He hated that name, preferred to be called “The Big Dipper”. Thanks!

I have no need for any other stamp EVER after they released these:

...though these are nice ones too:

...but if they came out with a Milton Friedman Forever stamp I would stock up on them, for sure.
