Homelessness Up 13% in New York Under Socialist Mayor De Blasio

Shockingly a policy of setting up massive shelters for drug addicts and the mentally ill in stable neighborhoods is proving about as popular as free Ebola. So Bill de Blasio, New York City’s Socialist mayor just isn’t telling them that he’s going to do it.

The sudden opening of a homeless shelter at 58-66 Clay St. is also giving rise to concerns that Greenpoint and other North Brooklyn neighborhoods are saturated with such facilities.

Community Board 1 Chairperson Dealice Fuller fired off a letter to Mayor Bill de Blasio on Nov. 6 demanding that the city close the Clay Street site immediately and hold a public hearing.

When shelters opened in recent months in Astoria and Elmhurst, Queens, and Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, elected officials and residents were taken by surprise.

“I had heard rumors and I was told it wasn’t set in stone,” said City Councilman Chaim Deutsch (D-Brooklyn). “Next thing I know, they’re moving in furniture.

Good luck with that. It’s De Blasio Time. That means no hearings. Just lots of corruption and radicalism.

The city has opened 23 new shelters to combat a 13% rise in homelessness since Mayor de Blasio took office — some of them in neighborhoods whose residents had no idea the facilities were coming to their communities.

Why has there been a massive increase in homelessness in the short time Bill de Blasio has been in office? Good question.

Bill de Blasio in true Obama fashion is blaming Bloomberg, but Bloomberg has nothing to do with this. Either there has been a massive growth of homeless or people who aren’t homeless are being put on the books.

That’s what Queens Crap suggests.

Where Bloomberg offered shelter to roughly 40% of applicants, de Blasio’s team boosted the acceptance rate to 49% or more, hitting a high of nearly 57% in March.

It is impossible to say whether more families will seek shelter and a shot at better housing because de Blasio has opened shelter doors wider. What’s clear is that the new attitude at the intake center has helped boost the shelter population.

Since we didn’t see mothers with children sleeping in the streets during the reign of Bloomberg, they obviously had someplace else to go. So why did DeBlasio decide to accept people who didn’t actually require services? In order to manufacture a crisis so his deep-pocketed friends in the shelter industry could profit.

It’s all a scam, and the ringleader is the mayor. But of course, according to the media, this isn’t the problem. It’s the people opposed to shelters who are the problem, because “mean people suck”.

Team De Blasio is claiming that it doesn’t have time to notify multiple neighborhoods about homeless shelters because it’s an emergency. There’s a limit to how many times you can claim that.

City Councilman Jumaane Williams, whose East Flatbush district just got a newly constructed homeless shelter on Glenwood Road, said his only problem with the facility is its size.

“We don’t want to make people feel unwelcome, but it’s too big, and it’s out of context with the neighborhood,” the Democrat said of the 198-unit shelter, which houses between 700 and 800 people.

Bill de Blasio is back to the old neighborhood wrecking policies of Lindsay and his old boss Dinkins.

Not surprised at all
The ‘Progressives’ will run the city into the ground and then ask the rest of us to fork it over to fix it. Detriotization

The bastard’s goal is to put more men out on the streets so he can get more money from the “rich” to pay for more government programs that will get more men out on the streets.

“The city has opened 23 new shelters to combat a 13% rise in homelessness since Mayor de Blasio took office...”

And 13% is only the start. Once they realize that the communist mayor is a fool and soft touch they will come from all over the US to enjoy his largess. Then they will start demonstrating and currying favor with the even more foolish MSM to increase the freebies.

Everybody hates Bill de Blasio. The pep squads in New York City have a new cheer.

“Two! Four! Six! Eight!
Who is it that we hate?
Bill de BLASIO!”

I have not investigated, but I am certain that these new “shelters” are all in working class neighborhoods.

The poor loves communists and elects them to offices. It is not a big surprise to see communists doing their best to produce more poor.
Too bad idiots are still listening to their propaganda and can’t see the pattern.
