I couldn’t afford $15,000 a year property taxes and no one could.

$15,000 property taxes is not typical, it would only be in affluent areas, not everywhere. Still upper middle class, mind you, but not statewide.

However even the more working class blue collar areas taxes will be in the range of $6,000 to $9,000 for a single family home. Then stack on another 7% for everything you buy and the state income tax and it really puts a bite into the working man's funds.

It really is outrageous and entirely due to bad government. We also have historically had the nation's highest auto insurance costs, thanks to the stupid "no fault" laws and surcharges for uninsured driver funds. Plus we have to pay a fee to go to the beach. This place is unreal.

I think the taxes to live in New York are about the same, however both are ridiculously over the top.

If you live in NJ you have to go through a lawyer to sell or buy a house as well.

Liberals are incapable of learning from their mistakes because they believe that they are too smart to make mistakes.

Yes. When things go wrong, they are simply victims. Victims of a rigged system, of nefarious forces from the banks or "corporate America". So when they move they think "finally got away from those terrible bad actors, now here is a place we can make it work!" And they pass the new laws to ruin the economy of their new state and the cycle starts fresh.

It's like a drunk driver who smashes into a dozen parked cars on his ride home and claims they all jumped out at him.

“Only 31 percent of New Jerseyans who make more than $100,000 a year said they are very likely to leave compared to 25 percent of those in the $50,000 to $100,000 a year salary range who are packing their bags.”

As usual, the Democrats, the party of the little guy are destroying the middle class.

Christie would be enough to make me consider leaving. Asinine gun laws would be the next thing. Radical Democrats who vote leftist kooks into office would be another. When I think about it, there isn’t anything that would compel me to live in New Jersey. The nanny socialism is oozing through air of New Jersey.

Wow. I knew that there were such rules, but having to have references I didn’t know. That completely sucks.

Better would be to slash welfare benefits to the point where the underclass leaves (or get jobs). THAT would make NJ more attractive.

I grew up in South Jersey and still have relatives there. That 15% hotel room tax is a killer. Get rid of it. The casinos are dieing.

It's actually cheaper than NYC, which if 8.875%, and (unless they've changed it in the past few years) it doesn't apply to clothing in NJ.

True, food (not restaurants) and clothing are exempt from the sales tax.

Anyone, no matter what his intelligence level, bnows that cutting taxes helps everyone, but you lose the money that is used to line your friends pockets. So the decision is keep your friends on the take and let the people go. So long as I have money ......

New Jersey is where Brooklynites go to die.

I thought they went to Florida where there's no death tax. Is NJ like too?

Plus we have to pay a fee to go to the beach.

FYI - Wildwood beaches are free.

What if you don't do to the beach? Do you still have to pay the fee?

For what it's worth, in Maryland the DemonRATS are now taxing the rain that falls on the roof of a house, parking lots, driveways and the walkways of everyone's property. What's strange is that no one has taken to the streets over this outrage. It's one of the reasons that Maryland will have a Republican governor next year.

But still, the clueless, stupid people of Maryland sent back the same old Democrat delegates to the state House and Senate -- so nothing will get repealed.

Obviously you only give references for people in your circle that believe in 2nd amendment rights.

Remarkably, the gas tax in the PRNJ is one of the lowest in the nation.

That should help the people trying to escape.
