“As you celebrate tonight, consider that the lesson here isn’t so much that Cubans or Soviet Jews shouldn’t be there, but that maybe some other people deserve a shot at an American Thanksgiving rather than an ill-informed lecture on the ‘law’.”

They used to come because they wanted to become Americans. Then they started to become hyphenated Americans. Now they’re Somalis, Mexicans, Nigerians, Saudis, etc., who hate America and Americans and want to help Obama turn it into a third world country after they get all their free stuff.

They used to come to get an education and start businesses or find work and enjoy the fruits of their own labor. Now they want to sit around whining and collect free stuff. Free stuff means other people are being robbed and eventually we’ll be just like the muzzie and commie-run hate-infested barbarian messes they all supposedly wanted to escape from.

If they ALL come here there won’t BE an America. We can’t give them ALL a free ride through life!!

Oh, and she argues for an ominpotent Executive, just like Good Tsar!

I think that's it.

She seems to think that legislation is inherently arbitrary and depends on whims of the moment. We're much better off looking to our fearless leader and simply following his dictates. That's so much better than formulating a legal framework which would end up changing from time to time.

When my surname ancestor came here there was no executive. In fact the Kingship of England was in doubt and contested. It was only when a new ruthless king tried to rule this land by executive fiat, that the original Americans rose up and kicked the executive out. You are no American if you want an executive to rule by fiat. Leave now. The revolution is coming once again.

My father, my two uncles, and my grandparents came here legally from The Netherlands in 1912. They had to go through Ellis Island, and follow the quarantine and holding period just like everybody else.

Those who came from communist countries wanted to become Americans - they filed for citizenship, often waiting years, but in the mean time they learned English and pushed their children to do well in school..... opposite of all things invasion of mexicans.

Cue the picture of all the women at the Obama rally doing the "Dear Leader" wide eyed stare

Think the point about legislatures is to get past herd instinct and be civilized

Funny, my ancestors came here not because of some dude with a pen in the White House. The two do not equate, but they won’t admit that.

I'm first generation and no resident of the White House signed my parents in either. And the really funny thing is that their sponsor was actually responsible for them and my parents got jack for nothin from the government, as a matter of fact they had to sign a contract that they would neither ask for or receive anything from the government for five years! Now our feckless leader and his lackeys spend our tax dollars advertising and schooling the invaders on haw to get all sorts of government aid the minute they cross the border.

Well, we’ve gone tribal. Rule by fear is the order of the day.

Sick, twisted, and disgusting.
Spits in the faces of everyone who came here and believed in America instead of “multi-culti” and “aztalan”.

My family has been here since many, many decades before there was an America. Before England had control. The history of the world is full of immigration, movement and wars, leaving one side the winner and one the loser. But now we do have the United States of America. But we are supposed to have no rules, no borders, no identity, because criminals want in.
Ass. How I do hate our president!

More of the tired, old, “Conservatives hate immigrants” tripe. Conservatives aren’t against immigration. We are against illegal invaders bringing untold numbers of diseases and exacerbating already out of control crime problems. Not every potential immigrant that landed on Ellis Island got to continue on to the U.S. Those that couldn’t pass health screens were quarantined or sent back. If I remember correctly, a sponsor family member was required as well in order to keep the streets from being flooded with homeless people. Many of my ancestors came pre Colonial period, and thise were arriving to an almost empty continent. Thise that couldn’t pay their way became indentured servants for 5 years. Imagine the howling if that were proposed now! I work with a man from Columbia who is going through the proper channels to become an American citizen. It has taken years and thousands of dollars, and he still has more to go. I can only imagine how he feels seeing all the line jumpers ahead of him now.

There were no “foreign language” tv stations.

The immigrant goal was assimilation.

America is home, not a cash cow.

There were no “make the USA communist” goals.

There were no make all dependent politicians.

The writer is an idiot. My ancestors came here legally...not by some distorted usurpation of laws by a dictator. Go back to russia.

RE: When my ancestors came here, there was no Washington, D.C., no White House, and the capital of the colony was in a different location than the State capital would eventually end up.

When my wife’s people got here, no one knows, but they were here long before that.

I’ve hear arguments from the left saying that one of the earliest illegal immigrants to America were the Pilgrims.

The enlightened Indians, represented by Squanto, actually helped them survive.

Therefore, according to the left, we today have to follow Squanto’s example by caring for these newly arrived illegals ( AKA modern day Pilgrims ).

Not like any of my ancestors. We’ve been in this land since the 1600’s.

My ancestors fought to create this country. Then my ancestors fought to make Texas a country.

Many years ago, my kids’ school had a multi-cultural day where the kids were supposed to dress up like the country their ancestors came from. I had mine dress up as Texans.

Not all of us have immigrants as ancestors. A colonist is different than an immigrant.

Not my family. They were not lost (the Pilgrims had been on their way to Virginia, iirc).

The area granted to my ancestors by an European monarch had two indigenous tribes fighting over it when they arrived.

My ancestors bought the area from both tribes and settled the dispute in the process.

Mine were all here years before there were any “executives”

It was a monarch and not any “executive action” who allowed them to come here..although kings did not necessarily control shipping in those days..

ya did notice that she and her parents didn’t come here until 1990 ???

Meanwhile its the Legislative branch that make immigration law...

and made the law that I came here under in 1971..

Huguenots ???

they would have probably fled from France into England and were sent here by the monarch, either becoming Englishmen while they waited in London or Bristol or shortly after arriving..

BTW any English born ancestors who arrived before 1776, were not immigrants but just moving to another part of England..
