In my local paper, the selection of news itself reflects total bias. Only news affecting liberal activism is published. They may as well call the paper, The Liberal Hot Button.
You’ll note that this laudable goal is Not coming from the University of Texas J-school.
Also teach basic English and editing skills. So many regular articles have misspelled words and bad sentence construction these days.
Given the destruction of business for print media (with a lot of big city papers only running 3 days/wk), I’m guessing they are probably paying close to min wage for writers these days.
Texas A&M is older. And wiser. Leading since 1876, the first public institution of higher education in the state.
Graduates would have to toe the line imposed by their editors. And as Sharon Atkinsson has reported, the editors answer to the Democrats.
Maybe A&M should start their own online news portal, and use it to develop their students and provide some real-world experience. If they do succeed in being objective, the portal could become a respected media organization.
